Young brother dropping some gems. Everything he's saying is so true. I have been in this game for over 35 years. My advice is to stay away from straight trucks unless you're young and don't mind delivering furniture and appliances which do pay well with the right company. Don't ever buy an single axle tractor, because it will limit you on weight being pulled

You can call any mega carrier, go the their yard Pick a truck and negotiate tremendously..Thing is you need cash..once you talk payments they refer you to an agent that adds all the interest..I just passed a Snieder Terminal that had a sign SPRAY PAINTED Saying Trucks For sale..This is The Time to buy Tractor and Trailer if you've got the CASH and Land to store it....That's the catch new buyers may not realize..You Need Land or a place to park that's not expensive and a Good Legit mechanic. Preferably yourself...

I understood everyone is broke by choice and because they want to when i started making $890 a day and i only ben doing this for 1 year i after i left OTR TANKER. The craziest part about this mind blowing experience is that i make 890 in only 2hours it hurts meee deep down every single day i remember all the bs i use to do all the 12/16hour work for just $100 or $200 it’s hurt me, i have nightmares I feel betrayed i feel used i feeel gross the more wealthy i become the more I realize how truly evil this earth is, I can’t never imagine i would ever made up to 900 in 2hours in a single day ever ever ever. The best advice i can give you is to quit your 9-5 when i quit trucking and my money was getting low survival mode got activated and it really awakened the real survival mode of me im already up to 378K and even if i worked any W2 9-5 for 100 years i wouldn’t have never ever made half of what i just made this year, a 9-5 W2 job is a wave job not profit think about that deeply and don’t ever do that sh in your life.

A new law will go into affect November 2024 positive drug results are reported to clearing house and driving status prohibited unless you enter a drug program, could you imagine being treated like a drug user as I have and not being I think it's a federal government shakedown, I'm thinking should I enter the program or just let my license be downgraded.

FYI beware of drug testing sites falsifying drug results and reporting it to clearing house placing your status as prohibited because someone thinks it's funny to do and happened to me two weeks ago pre-employment drug screening and not being hired and not allowed to dispute it by taking another test so after ten years of a perfect record to now prohibited to drive I don't know what to do can you help me?

I believe every single situation is different no matter what division of trucking rather you’re local or OTR. Each person must consider the variables and caveats in every business application.

I agree. Many drivers run out and get their own truck, but don't consider all the responsibilities and sacrifices beforehand. If making payments, nobody cares that it's Christmas Eve, and you gotta take that load out to make the next payment. Nobody cares that fuel and repairs went up X% and if leased on to a company and it comes down to one last load you best believe they'll give it to the company driver so they can make their lease payment to the bank and leave o/o hanging in the wind. Generally, local work is available but usually requires more physical labor unloading and crazy schedules. Regardless of who did what in the past, this is a new economy, and I'd stay company driver and let someone else lose sleep worrying about any issues.

You need to go OTR to learn how to operate that truck in different terrain and get the experience the good local companies want you to have. Most people never been outside their home city so I think OTR is a good way to see the country. Local for a rookie you’re going to be doing back breaking work unless you get lucky or you know somebody. I’ve done both as an owner op. I prefer OTR personally. Easier to meet my goals but I will say this. To be successful OTR you have to have the proper support at home. That’s my 2 cents from my 6 years experience. Keep trucking fam!

I do recommend OTR for 3-6 months. you learn a lot real quick, but i dont recommend otr long term. the lifestyle is miserable. i already knew how to back up a trailer cuz i did yard hostling. that why i only did otr for 3 months then left because the pay was criminally low at the mega i was working at.
