Great video, would you suggest this boat or a 14’ KaBoat for 2 adults and a child for exploring and fishing?
@ErickMartinSucre2 сағат бұрын
14 kaboat. These catamarans are made more for speed and agility, a pseudo sports boat. The kaboat will be far friendlier for a family.

Hello, I was wondering on how was the performance of 6hp outboard in your dinghy? Will it run pretty well with 4 adults passengers? How fast can it go on calm water?
@ErickMartinSucre10 сағат бұрын
I will not lie to you in any way, shape, or form. With me and some gear, I got around 14mph max, but 4 people and a 6hp? Nope, you'll just drah around 5-6mph. You'll need a 15hp or higher. If you live in an area that allows 2-stroke outboards, you may want to consider an 18hp Hangkai "15hp Yamaha 2-stroke outboard clone" instead. amzn.to/3WCeJ7O
@ErickMartinSucre10 сағат бұрын
If you chose a Hangkai outboard, follow these instructions and you'll have an amazing motor for cheap. This video is made with my 12hp, but the same applies to the 18hp model. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mr2VrdN_1J7Tqac.html

How do you transport with hydrofoil on? Do you need to remove it prior to placing it in trunk?
@ErickMartinSucreКүн бұрын
No, hydrofoil are quite strong. I do, however, place a small cooler where I keep my spare air pump right under the bottom fin, keeping the outboard slightly elevated. I do this because I usually place a ton of camping gear on top of the outboard.

90% idle break in doesn't sound right.
@ErickMartinSucre2 күн бұрын
But it works. I did 10 hours of it on a bucket, about 1 1/2 hours a day during a week using 25:1 ratio. Once on the water, I used 35:1 ratio for further break-in under load. The motor purrs like a kitten now.

Qs so I have sd385 TRITON and 20hp tohatsu, for some reason, my motor creates huge splashes that comes over transom and into the boat, how can I fix this issue? I tried different trim levels but doesn't help. Ive noticed on TRITON it has transom slanted backwards, vs my budget boat cb330 which has transom more in a straight line ....
@ErickMartinSucre2 күн бұрын
Yeah, that happens a lot with outboards higher than 6hp. My Hangkai 12hp "Tohatsu 9.8hp 2-stroke clone" was doing the exact same. I installed a hydrofoil to it and the issues was reduced tremendously. It still splashes a bit, but it is minimal.

Hello Eric , l have a notice- question for you. Do you think that when wheels are in upright position will not disturb the fully left - right movement of outboard ? Greetings from Greece🇬🇷 !
@ErickMartinSucre2 күн бұрын
Depends on how wide you install the wheels. I installed mine as wide as I could to prevent that. The wheels do scrape the tubes a bit, staining them a little, but I don't mind it.

Can’t wait to see it in action. At least for me, this pushes it past portability. Between the boat and engine weight, I’d be hard pressed get this down to a river bank. Currently, my setup is a Sea Eagle PaddleSki with a 6hp Tohatsu-easy to assemble in the parking lot then roll it down to the boat launch on portable wheels. These Saturns look better built than Sea Eagle.
@ErickMartinSucre10 күн бұрын
I've heard that before that Saturns are better quality. You'll think they are better with such prices, but it is what it is. In regard to portability, I am with you on that since I use my SK385XL a lot. Tough and easy to assemble. Thanks for watching!

I owe 2 saturns, and ive noticed even heavy duty fishing boats, have poor protection from the bottom, they need to create rubberized bottom not only in middle and on sides, but whole bottom should be covered in protective layer, because taking these into ocean over reefs is very risky, and ive been over some, other inflatable boats have completely rubberized bottom, so maybe you can relate this message to Saturn. Thanks for posting

Do you feel like you need the 6 gal fuel tank or 3 gal is enough for a regular trip, say 10 miles in total
@ErickMartinSucre11 күн бұрын
2-stroke uses a bit more gas than a 4-stroke. I think it is a good idea to have the big tank. That being said, if you happen to have a 3 gallon tank for a 10 mile trip, you'll be fine.
@zzs725311 күн бұрын
@@ErickMartinSucre thank you! How much gas do you think a 10 miles trip will use? 1.5 or 2 gallons? I don’t want to use the whole tank up. Definitely want to have at least 1 gallon left to be safe.
@ErickMartinSucre11 күн бұрын
Maybe a gallon at most. I did a trip recently that used close to a gallon, and it was a 14 mile river trip. I spent those miles mostly on plane. The river was a smooth all the way.

NO ETHYNOL GAS PLEASE ITS CRYTICAL
@ErickMartinSucre11 күн бұрын
There is a small work-around. When you finish your trip, and you're at the dock, unplug the fuel line and allow the engine to die. This will consume all the gas inside the carb and will prevent clog-ups and gas spillage when laying it down your vehicle. I have a 2018 Tohatsu 6hp and that is what I did for 6 years. Never an issue.

I almost watched all videos and subscribed. I bought a sd365r in 2016. I used the boat a few times and stored it till a week ago. I aired up and everything was like day one. But my oar lock pads and the whole transom...all 8 seams delaminated. I was happy it was in the yard and not on the water. I will basically reinstall the transom. I would like to think the newer models would be fine. I am trying to decide on which one! The old one was 130lbs with the aluminum floor. The cb290 seams fine for 2up cruising. I really want a back pack/ beach cart transport. There is alot of fun in the research. My 365 was used with a trolling motor. But I want to be able to plane in the lightest and easiest to transport setup. Maybe 290, 330 or kaboat. Any thoughts would be great Thanx for all the videos.
@ErickMartinSucre13 күн бұрын
Thank you, sir, for watching a silly man's videos on KZfaq lol. For ease of use, a kaboat would be perfect. I see myself using my SK385XL most of the time over my ZK380 because it is easy to lug around and you can plane easily with a 6hp outboard. I recently got a Hangkay 12hp outboard, and that kaboat flies on the water now.
@ErickMartinSucre13 күн бұрын
If you want to go even smaller, the SK396 is also a good choice, but it will not do well in the ocean, tackling waves and wake. The SK385XL can do that because it has massive bladders.

@@ErickMartinSucre one day I will FB. And I really should get a channel for my repair for everyone. Thanx again. I have been spending alot of time researching and debating water craft. This all started as a younger version of me wanting to wakeboard in isolated areas. I got caught up in a move and now live IBX. So I have it all. Rivers to the Ablemarle sound. I can trailer, truck or compact car. Really leaning towards 290, 330 or kaboat. I guess the greatest part is I can upgrade or get smaller. I do wonder if a 12ft kaboat and a 6hp would be exciting for 2 people. Or a 330 and 12hp 2 stroke would be more useful. I have plenty of big boat experience and wakeboarded and wakeskated for over 3 decades... kinda cool Eric! You have explored this option so well. Very best wishes on your life and channel. hows is it treating you so far? they look like a full 100% clone, thats not a bad thing if they copied everything fully, the tohatsu motors were great just pricey as all heck, these could very well be the best way to get a new motor these days.
