What he is saying makes sense. Maybe not a whole 2 feet of extra beam but the tip is good. If you are building a deck on the ground. Its probably very easy to guage where the square would be. But a 1st floor deck is way more difficult and the mistake his describing would be expensive to correct. So "pay attention and learn"
