I had an M reg TDi Disco in the same colour, absolutely loved the thing. Genuinely a vehicle for all purposes and returned 30mpg all the time. I got rid when the rust came through, it was relentless, started going everywhere, even in the roof and I don't have any welding/ metalwork skills like you do. Good luck with it, it'll serve you well!

perfect timing on these Sill repairs - you did that complete cutoff as you had discussed on this one. Looking good!

Seems like an awful lot of work when with a bit of fibre glass and filler, and maybe some screwed up newspaper, the job would be a "good un". 😀

I think only the BMC BL merger could come up with two different shades of Tartan Red! Still, I suppose either shade has fared better than some other offerings from the 'Lord Stokes paint box', such as death pallor green, watery puke yellow and baby diarrhoea orange. 😏

There were more perforations than a Tetley tea bag on some of that metalwork you've cut out! Keep up the good work and I hope the Disco is soon mobile again. 🙂

Good progress Richard ! - some nice fabrication there - it looked hot ! - think it was the same weekend I chose to extract and start to weld in the new rear cross member of my Range Rover Classic - wouldn't have even attempted it without your down to earth guidance and advice - Thanks !!!

Having similar issues and just checked - exactly that same issue - cables worn by that black metal box thing! Thanks for the steer but I’m not sure I have sufficient knowledge to start the repair job you described.

But what would cause the coil lead to one minute spark and run to then after a 5 minute run the engine shuts off, test if there’s a spark from the coil lead to earth and nothing?

Morning Richard. Please could I ask what the drills are you use to drill out spot welds please? I have seen you mention what you use before, but wasn’t sure. Cheers.

Lol send the apprentice to get a tin of Tartan paint…. 😊 It’s surprising how few E-types and MGBs were actually ordered in red in the 60s, yet it became the go-to colour for resprays and restorations. It obviously suited Alfa Spyders better “back in the day”…..

It's the joy of old age Hair grows where you don't want it to and doesn't where you want it to, things get stiff that never used to and things that used to get stiff don't, youth is wasted on the young. Thoroughly enjoying these video's as it takes me back in to to when I had a MGB or two. Yeah love a shagged bush, but there is nothing like Rubber Bush :) I wager OLD fuel is nothing compared to your bottom after a night on the beer followed by a Vin Da LOO or Donner Kebab. On the fan I am surprised you didn't work harder to get to the bush, that is not what I have heard about you !!

One of the first things I do when I fire up KZfaq is to see if Richard has a new video , I will also have another reason to look forward to Fridays now not just 'beer o'clock' ! - Thanks to you I have had the confidence to tackle a rear cross member on a 1986 Classic - I watched many of your cross member removals and your 'tips' and comments have been invaluable, its out and just fettling and protecting the chassis before putting a cross member back in - as you would say ' a light afternoons work, couple of hours max!' 🤣 Is it possible to have too many projects? - I guess so but not in my (or apparently your) world ! It's great to see a 'real' channel and not another one which is ' take a crashed car from copart and fix it' - keep up the excellent work, Richard!

I also look forward to Richard’s videos every Friday too. In fact, I think Richard is to blame! I took delivery of a rusting failed MOT soft dash 300tdi Vogue manual this afternoon. Biblical fail sheet. It’s a conversion too from the VIN. And lo and behold it’s had a clock swap. And been stuck on a very similar mileage for a least 4 years. Still, at least it’s mostly intact.

Loved my 78 MGB and only sold it when moving to US. It never let me down in 60,000 miles and sold it for more than I paid for it. Never liked the rubber bumpers though. Great to drive and I loved the electric overdrive. Perfect car for me.

I have a 1969 B. It starts every time without fail. All the miles I drive are free. How did I do this? Converted to electric, of course. The car will easily outlast me now. (oh - it helps to rip out all the lucas electrics in the process.)
