I always feel the chorus is Ryuko echoing her dad’s words. ‘Harbour my secret’ feels like him referring to Senketsu and perhaps who and what Ryuko truly is. Senketsu never loses his way, but Ryuko does when her blood overheats against Nui and also when she discovers the Life Fibres within her. And at the end of the song before the final chorus Ryuko says ‘do you remember what he said?’ Before leading into the chorus. At the very least ‘Don’t lose your way’ and ‘Don’t be afraid my sweet heart’ feel like Ryuko comforting herself with her dad’s words. Idk, that’s just how i interpreted it. I say this because it feels odd that Ryuko would call Senketsu sweetheart, given they weren’t ever romantic. Unless it just shows the deep bond and platonic soulmate type of love they have for one another

When you broke up, got heartbroken, your father/mother died, failed and dropped out from college, failed to get decent job, big family looked down on you and think how hopeless and miserable you are, struggling each day and barely to eat. Love how the female part says "sweetheart", i like to think Ryuko refers to Senketsu as such internally

@@drfabulous2804 I may be reading this series wrong, but there is a important side of Senketsu as a character. He technically isn't supposed to be a character, and is more like an extension of Ryuko herself. During the whole series she tries to accept Senketsu as a part of her and tries to wear him proudly, without feeling any shame. The words "Don't be afraid my sweet heart" is Ryuko telling herself to not be scared and embrace her entire being. This becomes pretty clear at the moment it's revealed that she is a half fiber. Senketsu represents her fiber-related side and she represents her human side. A simple analogy could be a non-straight person or a trans person suffering gender dysmorphia, in a journey of self-acceptance which is what I personally think her character represents. (Thats also another reason why this show is so sexualized and NOT sexualized at the same time, it tries to connect with themes of sexual and gender identity without making it weird) Also, remember that she grew up alone in a hostile place, her father died, she never met her mother, when she tried to do the right thing by finding her dad's killer she was only met with a fascist aggresive institute, and the more she found out about her connection to all of those tragedies the more she hated herself. I feel like the "secret" that makes her so blue is that she is scared and hates herself for who she is. Her entire journey is just her learning to accept who she is and "wear" herself proudly. Edit: Oh and I do think that "Dont lose your way" are her father's words but I don't think that any other line in the song is one of his quotes. Btw sorry if I fucked up the entirety of the english language.

@@flacoargentino1939 that’s a very interesting way of looking at it. Personally I think that anything and everything in Kill La Kill is open to interpretation and that’s what makes the show so brilliant. The creators themselves say that the show is about friendship as opposed to romance, and the core relationship of this friendship is Ryuko and Senketsu. Personally I think Senketsu SHOULD be viewed as his own character as he grows and evolves to be more than just life fibre clothing and ultimately he realises he has humanity in him thanks to Ryuko. Given he is made with Ryuko’s DNA and needs her blood to live there’s definitely the perspective that he is an extension of Ryuko’s entire being and a lot of Ryuko’s tenderness is brought out only by Senketsu. But I don’t like to discredit him as a character, there is still real, genuine love between him and Ryuko as two separate beings (be it platonic or familial or symbiotic, laced with romanticism of someone’s favourite clothing/Sunday best ), also he still functions as a life form of his own free will when Ryuko is absent, he experiences loneliness and worries about her when she isn’t around. You have an interesting perspective but I can’t not view Senketsu as a character of his own as he goes through developments and changes because of his loving bond and friendship with Ryuko.
@flacoargentino193928 күн бұрын
@@drfabulous2804 Yeah he definetly has a character development by himself don't get me wrong, and I really love him and his relationship with Ryuko. What I meant was in a more "narrative" or "phylosophical" way, in reality he IS a character and is one of the most important ones. But when it comes to the message of the show I think the friendship between Ryuko and Senketsu is supposed to represent a fragmented person coming to love herself, and I don't think necesarily this makes Senketsu less deep or interesting or whatever, quite the opposite in fact. Different sides of a same person have all incredibly complex, intriguing and fascinating ways of being. If one is mad the other one too, If one is sad the other one too, If one is lonely the other one too, if one is happy the other one too. You can love, care, miss and hate certain aspects of yourself or your entire being and the dynamic is similar. -Ryuko is one of the best characters in the show and by extesion so is Senketsu -Senketsu is one of the best characters in the show and by extension so is Ryuko Thats just how it is, this dynamic only makes them even better characters in my opinion. Regardless of what you think about this thx for the reply, I've been meaning to discuss this show with people but sadly its a pretty bad labeled show :/ And yes! This is just my interpretation, the show is so deep that you could analyze hundreds of differents aspects in so many different ways.
@drfabulous280428 күн бұрын
@@flacoargentino1939 yeah, like I said, one of the best things about kill la kill is that there is a lot that is open to interpretation. And I can complete get behind your interpretation given Senketsu is made from Ryuko’s DNA and she’s the only one who can hear him. I always feel that Ryuko and Senketsu have a bond that can’t be labelled and put in a single box, they’re like family bound by the same blood but not related and as intimate lovers but without any romance or sexual attraction muddying the water and complicating such a beautiful friendship, they’re best friends and platonic soulmates, and yeah by the time Senketsu dies Ryuko is ready to brave the world and accept and love the person she is. Idk if Kill La Kill a bad labelled show, there’s a lot of love for KLK and it’s a very highly rated anime (personally it’s my favourite anime ever and one of my favourite TV shows of all time), but I get that given how much of the show depicts teenage girls fighting whilst wearing incredibly skimpy outfits it’s not exactly something to discuss around the dinner table or with people who don’t know anything about the show. No problem for the reply, I always enjoy discussin this show, especially regarding the complex nature of Ryuko and Senketsu’s relationship

@sleepypotato718310 ай бұрын
If you don't know the context, it won't make sense, yeah. You just need to know the song is all about a sentient vampiric armor and a girl who was wearing it. The armor would provide her powerful ability and strength in exchange of draining her blood while active. The girl is the usual revenge template type who wants to know who killed her dad and the armor wants to help her. That simple.
