The rule about having a male relative escort or husband with you in taxi is to prevent the lady from having a relationship or getting frisky with the driver...the chances of that being extremely slim already since she is covered head to toe and social environment dont support it...honour killing is normal there. In islam men and women are to lower their gaze - not staring hard at opposite sex, or have wandering eyes. But thats for respect and self discipline - they basically making women cover her face amd entire body and still saying man cant control himself because of her voice. That sounds like a self discipline issue and difficult to control with laws. The middle eastern and South Asian men when they come to the west - their are no limits so they are unhinged - they drink alcohol, sleep around, get girlfriends, some got addictions, they go extreme other way. When you cant greet a lady or see women in public - you dont see them as human. When women are put in such predicaments like Afghanistan - they leave religion all together or become extremely liberal once they leave that setting so that they are non practicing. The message is dont go to Afghanistan under any circumstances as a women. If you get the chance to speak to women from parts of the world where they were completely controlled like this - its unbalanced - when they come to western nation they will change alot - most its working and education and picking a better partner..but some decide to leave religion all together. Many of these places teach religion in a way to make girl feel like they aint shit...and focus is on punishment and control of girl/women for minor infractions. The religion of Islam gives rights to men and women but in patriortical society the men dont want women to know their rights and apply them. Honour killings are not islamic - they are a tool the middle east and south Asians use to punish women for marrying someone the family dont want - even if guy is from same country, same religion. It's about removing choice for women to choose their spouse. Islam allows women to choose her spouse of her own free will within guidelines that guy is muslim, has good character, and will take full financial responsibility in the marriage...it dont say he must be from your country or do cultural things unrelated to islam (living with in laws - not required in Islam).
