It is NOT true that you must have an Apple-brand cable to connect to CarPlay. I've used several good quality cables to do so. However, the VW infotainment system is buggy and on multiple occasions I've had to reboot or reset the unit itself. Here is another trouble shooting option: On my VW Golf GTI 2018, CarPlay suddenly stopped working. I went many trouble shooting options noted on the web and nothing worked. I called VW and it turned out that all I needed to do was to go to the SETUP button, choose the application option, and do a factory reset. This instantly fixed the problem. When I selected the APP option on the infotainment system, the CarPlay symbol had returned and I was able to reconnect my iPhone quickly and everything worked fine.

Hello! I know this video is old but thought it would be worth a shot to ask a question nobody seems to know the answer to. I have figured out how to toggle between the different displays. Thank you. However, is there a way to keep the settings on one single one? When we get in the car, we change the setting to show the speedometer. But then when we turn off the car and turn it back on it automatically resets to the oil temperature display. We have to toggle through to the desired setting every time we turn the car back on. We are trying to figure out a way for it to stay set on one setting without having to change it each time we get into car. Thank you!

I don't know how it worked but it still worked. Passat B8 (2018) has a camera control unit under passenger seat. Nothing related to BT. But it has kinda the same connector so I tried and it did the job. Crazy...

What if the fuse continues to blow after coin is removed, and it has blown both sockets? Do the actual sockets need replaced at this point?
