Not sure if your looking for recommendations for this series but I would say prairie view in Topeka Ks. Its been a few years since I played it but it was god awful and considering the owners it likely has only gotten worse.

Had a cool course pro get tired of watching me hook every shot with my driver on the range before playing, he showed me basically this one thing with the grip (rolled my right hand ever further over the top of my left then this video) and it was like a miracle from the golf Gods, i almost started hitting a fade instantly. Still works years later although i forget at times

I played a few holes at the sand golf course just east of Tonopah, Nevada, back in the 1970s. The course had been abandoned by then. The fairways were just desert that had been cleared, and the greens were made of sand. I always wondered what it might have been like when it was maintained.

Either he did not pure a single iron shot, (and I highly doubt that he didn't) or I do not care for the clunky sound of those pxg irons.

When I tee up my wedges and irons, I look for discarded, broken tees. Why pay for a perfectly good tee when all you need is the top part sticking out of the ground. A tee that got broke in half will do just as good.

Great stuff! I think tee height is a topic that newer golfers might be a little embarrassed to ask about because it seems like something that would be so simple, but tee height can really dictate your ball flight. And, for driver, the height is something you have to experiment with to find what suits your swing.

Matt, I’m coming back to the game of golf after a 15+ year absence. I’ve been absolutely CONSUMING your videos. Great content! Your personality is engaging and you seem like someone I’d love to play a round with. That said this video is spot on to what I was taught back in the day. You should tee up every time you can because you should never pass up the opportunity for a perfect lie. Plus it takes the grass out of play. Any time you can take variables out, you should!

For some reason, whenever I tee the ball on a short par 3 I do what you say. But, 85% of the time I blade it? I never do it on the fairways.... maybe just a mental thing.. It's so annoying and ticks me off so much. Any suggestions?

7 iron through wedge I don’t tee up most of the time. The whole reason is because I feel like I hit down and compress the ball better when I hit it off of the turf. When you’re playing on bent grass especially the ball is going to be sitting up perfectly if you find good spot. I just feel like it has more variability to involve a tee in some cases

I tend to tee my ball up with maybe 1/4 to 1/3 above the club head and yes I lose some distance but I know it's going straight down the fairway and that's more important for me.

I do tee up in every tee box. For par 3's, I use a short tee and I just get it high enough to clear the turf, like you do. Sometimes the tee is almost flush with the ground. Guarantees me a good lie. For driver, I usually only go high enough for 1/4 of the ball to be above the crown of the club head.

Taking divit makes no sense if you already hit the ball why does it matter if you rip up the corse. Your not compressing into the ground. Not all golfers take divits

Divot would show a downward strike on the ball, also if you're too steep, and club path direction

Years ago, I had a PGA pro tell me to always tee up on the Teebox to give yourself the best lie possible. That’s how I operate.

The only time I use a tee is for my driver. If I need to hit less than driver off the tee box, I’ll tee up my 3W, that’s it. To each their own, but I would never tee up an iron shot for a par 3.

I use basically the height you show but I feel like I overdraw the ball when I tee it up for an iron shot so I tend to not use a tee when I hit irons. Dont know if its just a mental thing or not.

I have had a problem with tees on par 3's for decades. Currently I just drop the ball in some fluffy part of the tee box and hit. Results are usually positive. Put a tee in the ground and my swing becomes over the top, open club face, wipes across the face of the ball and off to the right we go. Can't explain it. I have tried regular sized tees, short tees, plastic 'castle' tees, cage tees, it's nuts. Have recently changed my grip to get my bottom hand under the club more to get the 'V' pointed at my back shoulder. This has resulted in much straighter shots, so I might try using tees on par 3's again.

What about Castle Tees? I use the smallest Green Castle Tee [7mm] for wedges, the Red Castle Tee [12mm] for irons. Then the Blue Castle Tee [18mm] for 7 & 3 Wood. For the Driver I mostly use the Pink Castle Tee [37mm], but at my home course there are 2 holes that have a 30 yard elevation to the fairway so I use the Orange Castle Tee [49]. Sacrificing some distance to get it on the fairway.

I agree! I watched a previous video from you that described suitable tee heights according to your club angle, ever since then I fixed my driver slice by teeing the ball lower! Granted I don't get a nice high ball flight as others, but at least my shots are much more consistent now. Thanks MrShortGame!
