Why is in A major? Also, how did you made the tr. sound so good? tr. in Musescore is like nothing. Sounds like a joyride. It looks difficult to play.
@benjaminpiano311015 күн бұрын
I thought A major would be a good place to start given the end of the 2nd movement (which ended in A major). I feel it gives a smoother transition between movements. This being said the 1st movement is in Bb major, which is the nominal key of the quartet. As I think you point out, it doesn’t make too much sense to say the quartet is in Bb major given most of the quartet is in A major for a fair amount of time. (Although technically as the 1st movement is in Bb major it doesn’t matter what the other movements are - it’s perfectly allowed to say it’s in Bb major). Nevertheless it would probably have been a better artistic choice to have this movement end in Bb. Oh well - there is very large variety of quartets being composed these days (incorporating atonality, extended techniques, non-traditional sounds, forms, etc.), and I’d argue that the fact the key of this movement is A and not Bb is a fairly minor consideration. Any quartet who wants to play it is free to transpose everything up a semitone if they like 😂 Perhaps I should remove ‘in Bb major’ from the title and just call it ‘Quartet No. 5’. With regards to MuseScore - there are a few different types of trills you can add to a note, you can add the ‘tr’ symbol or one that looks like ‘tr~~~~~~~~~~~~’ which gives an extended trill for the duration of the note. The latter is what I used here which gives a much nicer, sustained trill. Also note that MuseScore is not so good with flattened/sharpened trills (ie a trill with the higher note a semi tone higher or lower than otherwise indicated by the key signature) , it doesn’t like them and I can’t figure out a way to make it play them except to change the key signature in MuseScore momentarily, for the purposes of playback only.

@@benjaminpiano3110 Du bist glülich! When I was there a local explained that wheh they filmed Julie Andrews pracing across sunny meadows outside of town they literally had to wait aeons for an appreciably sunny day! It has a high suicide rate, too. I met a photographer who had a camera permanently on a tripod facing out his window toward a wooded cliff across the city and I asked him why and he explained glibly it was because occasionally he would see persons leap from the cliff as he walked by his picture window and this way he could snap a pic capturing their descent. It's easy to see how Mozart resorted to hyperactivity, if he did!

A couple of issues with the writing. In the violin part there were semi quavers with staccato markings on top of all of them as well as a slur… given they were little run flourishes they usually wouldn’t be written like that as it’s extremely difficult to Staccato that fast in one bow stroke especially for a section like that. Even if it simply was for playback purposes, you can only get that sound with un-slurred runs. Another easily fixable issue was the minims with the first tremolo line marking indicating it is played 4 times in the note’s playback (quavers), again this is quite unconventional and confusing for the players so this usually wouldn’t be used unless the first time those markings are being used that it is clarified what those mean e.g. you could have the marking there but with 4 dogs on top of the note head to indicate it is played just like 4 quavers. Otherwise, this piece sounds awesome and I applaud you for your work! :)
