Remember the gazebo where Maddie wore a wig pretending to be Laura? In real life it was a 2 minute walk from where James and Maddie are sitting at the little dock by the lake. Sadly a few years ago a big fire happened in the area and the gazebo burned up. More to come with Tojamura's plan. 😉 Also in next ep: 😱🔥

David Lynch has technically been in the show before this episode - we heard his voice on the phone back in season 1. But this is Lynch's first onscreen appearance as his self-insert character, Gordon Cole. Lynch has said that Dale Cooper is based on himself in many ways, and we can see how Dale is kind of a younger, mini-version of his boss, Gordon. Josie's character arc is very tragic. She fits with the whole theme of people living divided lives, like Laura. With Harry, she can become a different person. But it can't last and she can't outrun her secrets. Cooper saw Mike and Bob first in his dream from season 1, where Mike revealed their connection and recited the "Fire Walk with Me" poem. And now we see "Mike" finally emerge in real life, confirming more from Cooper's dream.

Think about it less as multiple personalities and more as a possessive spirit. Kind of like something that needs an exorcism. So someone in the town has Bob possessing them.

I know you're disappointed that Albert isn't "coming back." The actor got a lead role in something and couldn't come back. I also encourage you to watch the prequel film Fire Walk With Me between the end of season 2 and the beginning of three.

i ❤ that there were 3 distinct little narratives for how each dragon chose a rider, giving each dragon real character. Sea Smoke was like "I'm gonna marry that man-HEY GET OVER HERE!" Vermithor was like "I don't just roll with any homey! Hmm... I might mess with him tho." Silverwing was cool and laid back like, "Lookit this fuckin idiot... alright sure" Now I just hope part of their training is to squire for highborn riders? Jace could use it.

That Dabi Toya reveal was really good, also, the first time Dabi and Shoto saw each other was in season 3 at the training camp, compress had already captured Bakugo and Tokoyami, but Aoyama's attacks made him drop his capaules, Shoji managed to get Tokoyami back but when Shoto tried to get Bakugo, Dabi got him first in front of him and said "too bad...Shoto Todoroki", they qere already hinting at something from back then

same ;-; i mean looking back it should've been obvious, especially bc i've since realised that sooo many people were theorising it throughout the years BUT yeah i never guessed it, i just saw it spoiled somewhere since i didn't start the show til last year.. so the reveal was a little underwhelming :') same with the UA traitor reveal - i got spoiled about it way before the episode came out (from manga readers) sooo it was kinda underwhelming when i watched it

there are many "Ghost in the Shell" series and movies, this was the first one , its a classic. one of my favourite pieces of animation. in the other "Ghost in the Shell" media there are mostly the same characters but the characters are slightly different interpreted, and the art style is different and so on.. im almost done with watching all of it, its a lot. i think "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" is worth watchin as a follow up, because its following the events of the movie you watched. PS. i liked youre reaction, you understood a lot.

Ghost in the Shell holds up well with repeated viewings. I've watched it perhaps a dozen times. The Matrix franchise borrowed a lot from this film and repaid the debt with a series of animated shorts released prior to the third installment. Ghost in the Shell and the first two animated series lean heavily on literature and philosophy, from Plato to Descartes to J.D. Salinger to Deleuze, Jameson and beyond, including a reference to the Jean-Luc Godard film À bout de souffle. The Westworld revamp draws on Nietzsche and Huxley beneath the citations of Shakespeare. Of course, one need not be aware of any of that to enjoy the results.

One thing I'll say if you're ever interested on watching the Stand Alone Complex series (which I think is the best series beyond the movie) is that it shows a lot more about the characters from Section 9 (Major, Batou, Togusa...). The show still dives into really interesting philosophical topics but the thing I like the most about it is the camaraderie they have and their relationship. Also, a lot less nudity. 😅

Yes, there is SO much more within this franchise. It is much beloved. Unfortunately they made a Live Action version of THIS film...that had some visuals, but it was lifeless and without spirit. In some ways, I'd send you to watch it, but most of us just hate watch it. Next up, watch this TV series: The Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (SAC 2045). Everyone is lost at the beginning. As the movie proceeds, it starts to answer the questions that you had at the beginning. Have you watched AKIRA (1988)? That is the most seminal version of this Cyberpunk world. Many people feel that it was/is the best in this genre. Have you read William Gibson's Neuromacer (1984) which was my first entrance into the Cyberpunk world. When in high school, we played Cyberpunk RPG by R. Talsorian Games and ShadowRun by FASA games. This was the world that we wanted to live in, when I grew up. I sent a tweet to you to ask if you've watch BladeRunner (1982) or the sequel, BladeRunner2049 2017). The idea of are you a human or a replicant (synthetic organism). And, whether you know IF you are real or a replicant. Great thoughts to think about. IF you watch BladeRunner (1982), watch the Director's Cut (I think there are seven versions). The theatrical release had voice over by Harrison Ford, and the movie was dumbed down for what they (studio that brought it out) thought the audience wouldn't understand. Glad that you enjoyed this film. Talk to you, later.

No, I didn't watch Blade Runner and clearly, I don't know the other references you mention. As I said I think in intro/review, it was my first real experience with the cyberpunk universe. The real one at least (not the us blockbusters ones which are staying on the surface of things, and not the ones exploring the same subjects but differently, like for exemple for me Matrix is not cyberpunk at all). Thanks for the advices !

Marie and I love this movie and the TV series, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. They are talking about deep concepts, and how to integrate a human brain into a mechanical body. The intersection between humanity and machine. Yes, the use of mirror (either through mirrors, window reflections, water reflections) with the idea of was is real and what is an illusion. Definitely groundbreaking.

It is a self contained movie, but with open ending for more. You are correct in that it felt like a beginning, because they did made a franchise out of this OVA. I would recommend watching Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, its one of the newer bigger budgeted anime movies, its also a self contained movie (an adaptation of a couple of arcs from the manga series) and its really well made, i think you will really like the filmography, how it looks and sounds, with a solid story. There is also a new "anime" that was released not long ago called "Mars Express", the reason i bring it up its because its made by a french studio (and its very obviously insipired by Ghost in the Shell), over there in France there might even be showing on some theaters (limited i guess) And if you are interested in more cyberpunk, i would love to see your reaction to an anime called Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2032, its a short series (only 8 episodes, and i would go as far as saying that only the first 6 are a must watch), the style of the series however is what trully makes it a unique experience and is very interesting, having musical segments going along the action, and its a mix between Blade Runner, Terminator, Streets of Fire, and a lot of stuff. However, i warn you, its an older anime (from the 80's) so the animation can be a little rough sometimes, but its a very beloved anime from back then for how unique it was (and still is really)
