This are super cool looking Jeeps, I got one of those almost three years ago and it's awesome, even though I have only driven it on highways and the city, it's still a cool Jeep to drive.

I hve a 4.7 2006 Commander Had to replace shiftera year ago Problem is Chrysler Daimler does not make shifter anymore Had to get a used one Which was a helluva job Love my commander But worried about shifter I hve lifted it 2" highwuth 2 " wheel spacers Looks pretty decent😊

I just got a 2007 3.7 Commander and looking forward to making it look nice with my son. Could anyone tell me what a good lift would be all around? ive got the ugly low front end and not sure what lift to get.

Actually, you guys bashing on the hemi commander are quite wrong. The hemi hp is well over 100 more than your 3.0 diesel. The torque is about the same numbers depending on which year of the hemi production for the commander. Late models were far superior to that diesel version.

Wrong. If no little T-handle next to the gear selector, it's 2wd. Commanders did not come with AWD, just 2WD or 4WD (two types of 4WD, but T-handles for both).

The Commander actually is classified as "AWD" If it wasn't then we would have 4Hi and Lo! Now is it a "true AWD?' That I don't really know

If you go under your jeep and see your 2 drive shafts then it should be AWD. It is ok for offroad I have taken mine into some light offroading and will perform alot better than a 2wd.

The Commander did not come with AWD. You may be thinking of Full-Time 4WD, which is what you would be in if you did not lock the transfer case by pulling up on the T-handle. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_Commander_(XK)#Off-Road_Capabilities All 4WD vehicles will have two driveshafts.

I installed mine this last weekend. 09 XK 5.7. I have the same issue with the stock air box. Do you think it was designed for the WK and they just assumed the XK was the same? Did you ever call AFE?

I was hoping to see some off roading. I know its more.capable then that, especially with m/ts my yard floods to a soupy mess under a foot of water and if a fwd car can make it through then awd surely could with ease, but idk maybe their still to new for anyone to risk offroading one, for those who find need for a 4wd don't buy such new things?

You mention the "funny sound when it returns to idling RPMs": I assume it's the cylinder deactivation or “Multi Displacement System” (MDS) which turns off the fuel in four cylinders when power is not needed. Chrysler said that the MDS system saved nearly 100 million gallons of gasoline between 2005 and 2009, and reduced CO₂ emissions by close to a million metric tons.

Yeah, it definitely makes a nice throaty sound, especially on the highway. This video doesn't do justice for the sound.

IronTom Hey there Tom, sorry for the late reply. I actually got rid of it about a couple of years ago for something more fuel efficient because of work but once the office moved and I was no longer driving I actually went back to another Commander but now with a HEMI. I love my Commander and they do have their issues but nothing that can't be fixed. I have yet to mod this one but maybe soon.

Oscar Davila Hey! Thanks for the reply. Our Hemi starter died a while back, but nothing that can't be fixed. I love that Jeep :). I'm planning to keep it stock for now (again, more fuel efficient that way). Got a few dents and scratches thought, but without those it would not be a Jeep.

IronTom The Commanders look more like a real Jeep with slightly bigger tires and a small lift kit but it does impact the fuel efficiency. I would definitely reconsider modifying it if it were my daily driver but since it's not I wouldn't mind the more aggressive look. However, at this point in life there are other priorities so the mods will take the back seat until I'm ready. And yes, it's not a Jeep without a couple of battle wounds.

It's a DD for us, and we have to factor in European gas prices. We have a propane conversion which cuts 40% of the fuel cost, but it still is not a very money-friendly vehicle. Thanks for the chat dude, good luck :).
