Working 2nd shift, many times I will run once I get home at midnight. So lights, both on the railway and the train are needed.

What a lovely locomotive. I'm considering building one using the three kits on offer by Regner. Would you happen to know if it is full Walschaerts valve gear? Or is it similar to the Roundhouse simulated valve gear which does not allow cut-off to be set? Again, lovely loco. Enjoy!

@artfulldodger5597Ай бұрын
45mm gauge(LGB track) but model can be regauged to 32mm if so desired. Most all Roundhouse Engineering models can be regauged to either gauge, the wheels have a pair of grub screws that set them to the axle. The model comes with a wheel gauge tool to set them to 45 or 32mm

This is the quality you pay for and get with every Roundhouse brand live steam locomotive. This was their top model in the early 1990's when this one was made. Its still in the lineup today with a few improvements over the original design model here.

They have very large bore cylinders and better throttle set ups. Most are RC control right from the factory as well, although you can get them with manual control. A good load to pull also helps with an engine that is skittish. @@northernutahlivesteam3566

Hello! I am having a bit of trouble getting mine to run. What steam oil would you recommend works best??
@artfulldodger55974 ай бұрын
460 grade steam cylinder oil, you can get that from The Train Department, which has a nice website for small scale live steam. The Corgi reissue needs a lot of "run in" time before they perform well. Some never perform as good as an original UK built Basset Lowke.

Are there two lines for water from the engine to the tender? I thought you needed a return for a pump for the bypass to work right. It is running very nicely, is that your gas fired Sandy River 24 on the side line there? What show is that? Looks like a pretty big show.
@artfulldodger55975 ай бұрын
Yes, return is on the engineers side and supply is on the side facing the camera. Yes, that is my very early gas fired Sandy River along the sidelines. We were set up at the winter NMRA CID divisional show in Lebanon Indiana show.

Your fixed fram SRRL 24 runs well and it's all black the way it should be. What brand are those coaches on there? I've tried several coaches with my RH locos from Bachman to old Delton coaches. I'm running Accucraft Jackson sharp combine now. It's big but they are about the same scale as 1:19.
@artfulldodger55977 ай бұрын
Those are old Kalamazoo Toy Train coaches from the 1980s. They came in several colors, most with fictional names on them. I have a Roundhouse/Shawe coal burning 24 that I am modifying while its in the back shop for worn out rods and axle bushings, it will have inboard bearing pilot and trailing trucks, Arc style oil headlight and eventually wear different colors, its the later sprung chassis version from 2006 with a silver smokebox and oxide roof. It will wear dark bronze green with graphite smoke box and oxide roof once repainted.
@artfulldodger55977 ай бұрын
The size difference between 16mm scale and the 1:20.3 of those Accucraft cars is greater than one realizes. The old Kalmazoo stuff is loosely 1:24. The old REA/Aristocraft shorty wood coaches also look good, as do LGB coaches, and LGB offers factory painted Sandy River ones. If you want true scale and true length Sandy River coaches, cabooses ect. Check out Bowater models in the UK. They have laser cut wood kits in 16mm scale for the Sandy River and Bridgeton & Saco River.
@stevenj94146 ай бұрын
@@artfulldodger5597 Thanks I had the Delton coaches which were probably the same molds Kalamazo was using that Hartland bought. I thought of building the Ozark Minatures wooden coach kits. I think they come laser cut, I got a lot of projects though. I'll have to look up Bowater models.
@artfulldodger55976 ай бұрын
@@stevenj9414 The Delton coaches are their own molds. Hartland ended up with both the Delton and Kalamazoo molds. This was how the Hartland 4-4-0 got to look much better than the original Kalamazoo one. Hartland used the cab, headlight and other details from the C16 molds they did get to upgrade the 4-4-0. Aristocraft ended up with the main C16 molds though.

@@artfulldodger5597 Oh okay I had a HLW 440 years ago and sold it sadly. My 1.5 inch ride on club has the Disney HLW 440 in our museum part of the Carolwood collection.
