My sc stalls when the oil cap is removed, what can cause that? Thanks

Did you guys replace the ims bearing on this and if so did that fix it? Also what’s that knocking noise ?

In a technical sense, your description is not accurate. The engine can’t take on all the oil in the system. There’s roughly 13 quarts in the system and never will there be 10 quarts in the engine even at max RPM.

The two THIN white lines are 90C and 120C (degrees Centigrade). This works out to be 194F to 248F (degrees Fahrenheit). (I sold my 87 Carrera back in 2013, so I am strictly going from memory). Oil level should NOT be checked until the engine has warmed up to at least the lower thin white line. Bruce Anderson (remember him?) said that at 248F the engine was running “hot,” and at or above the red line (120C or approximately 302F)it is “too d*** hot.”

why would you NOT show the guages while explaining this?
@greeny51555 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I inherited a 79 Porsche 911 from my dad and fixed up one broken part on it. I've always wondered what those gauges should be around to know how healthy the car is and if it's doing alright. It has been impossible to find any info on that. This video was soooo helpful, so thank you so much!

The advice this man ia giving should not be understated. I would consider Mr. Callas one of the most experienced in this field. I have been practicing his starting procedure for years now with no issues. Thanks for sharing. I personally refer back to your 959 delivery video for many of these questions. Would love to see more in depth walk throughs like you did with the new 959 owner. Excellent stuff!

I change the oil on my 992 every 5K with the Mobil 1 40W spec'd for it.... should I go to 3K interval? Also, is it bad if I let the fast idle (warming uo the cats) come down before I drive off? I just don't like how it drives when on fast idle.

Thank you for this video and this topic this is your new subscriber on the West Coast Los Angeles. I’ve seen some of your videos and then I pulled you up and find out that you are right by Johnson’s alignments. That’s where all the Porsche guys go to have their cars worked on well I’m hoping to be your customer and I have a 1978 SC and a 99 996 and watching your videos I feel pretty comfortable that I can take my car to you and not worry about anything and I believe the guy at Pacific tires in Redondo Beach mention you as well. Well thank you for all your videos. Can’t wait for the next one.

On racing bikes the mechanics' warm-up procedure is to start up then, keeping below about one third of the rev-range, running it up to temp but not letting it sit at a constant RPM. This is why you see them constantly blipping the throttle, and, apparently, it's to minimize bore-scoring. What's your opinion of doing the same with car engines?

Drive the car and be happy...buy yourself a scanner..clear the codes yourself. 99 percent of these codes are nonsense...if u stick a sensor up your ass...what do you think is going to happen?

thanks. I just did the engine on my 84 Targa. My oil pressure stays at 5 all the time and is not working properly.I am waiting on a new gage. The information you provided will be very useful.
@Callasrennsport9 ай бұрын
It sounds like the sender wire is grounded. Unplug the sender and see if the gauge needle drops. If not, unplug the gauge, it should drop then.
@bernardmauge86139 ай бұрын
did all that already. Also when you stall the car and leave the key on ignition the gage reads 5 instead of going to zero. So it is bad.
