You have to let the Guinness settle for a few minutes before you start drinking it. It should look all black when it's time.

I enjoy Maker's Mark......but I can't and haven't kept up with all the different series, especially when they use the numbers and letters. I am a graduated Ambassador and was at Maker's for a tour and got to see some of the construction of the Celler. With all the distilleries coming out with different finishes its hard to keep up. Also I don't want to spend $75 for something I might not like.

You drank the Guinness before it fully settled and was black colour all the way through to the white top. It was still brown. It really does taste better if you leave it another few minutes before drinking

None of us here have ever been big fans of Makers products, but were always open to new bottles! Thanks for the review!!

I picked one of these up and honestly didn't care for it. It will sit on the shelf for years to come. So many 50-60$ bottles that are better.

Cellar aged never really came to Nevada. I saw one in a raffle and the rest all seem to be in airport duty free shops. Lame. (I'm bitter. Lol) At least I got the heart release. It's pretty good.

From meeting you both, I know you are nice, caring, and respectful folk....however, I hope when you saw the price of the pour in the bar you asked to speak to the bar manager and then laughed heartily in his face, before walking out of the bar with a flourish.

I feel like we are drinking different Heart's Release bourbons. I find the nose to be lovely, but, it is REALLY tannin-ie?? Very very drying and not an enjoyable pour (for me). If it were a bottle of wine I would say it was corked. My least favorite of the Wood-Finishing series by far.

Maybe it does have cork taint. It can happen to whisky too - I had a bottle of Balcones Baby Blue which was just *awful* and later I realized it was corked.

I just picked up a bottle of this. Not being a huge rye fan, this immediately jumped into my rye favorites (I’d buy it again at retail price). I’m really curious about the mash bill though. I don’t get the big secret on that, especially from Michter’s. I tend to prefer the high rye mash bills like Bardstown Origin Rye, so I’m guessing this is pretty similar.

I love this bottle. Have heard from some people that think its the same thing as Makers Mark 46, just has a new label and priced higher. Do you know what the difference is?

It's at minimum a higher proof. Its likely just blended differently for a different flavor.

While this sounds good, it seems to be a little gimmicky to me. Isn’t it basically the stave profile from Maker’s 46 they just did it twice and it spent some time in the cellar. I’ll probably pass.

This just hit my recommended vids, so apologies for the 6-month delayed post. I'm scratching my head at the stores you guys hit. I generally find Chateau Wine and Spirits in Dublin is the best place to pick up bottles, but I specialize in cocktails and not a "Bourbon Guy" specifically. Weiland's is good too. For bars/restaurants, I've heard good things about Buckeye Bourbon House, but have not been myself. However, if you drive to Columbus, you should definitely drive another 35 minutes north to Delaware and go to Opa Grill and Tavern for food and drinks. They claim to have the largest bourbon selection in the state (somewhere around 3-4000 different bottles). They have all the hits and a ton of private stuff too. Definitely a bourbon lovers destination.

I have the rye blend. It smells and tastes like dry grass and wild flowers. It’s well executed, but quite different from my usual reach. I don’t find it to be super minty thankfully.

Jason I’m a buckeye about an hour south and have a golf channel. I’ve gotten into bourbon in the last 8 months, hunting bourbon in Ohio is almost an impossible task for those of us with day job and drops are Thursdays in the morning. Here in southern Ohio I find Kentuckian come up and will but the finite drops in my little village. So , unless you have infinite vacation or have serious hooks up allocated is a pipe dream. However, i have taken another path to getting near allocated bottles. By visiting distilleries and getting the items that are unique to visiting the distillery. For instance getting a “Y” batch instead of an A or B batch from Larceny or EC at haven hill. Or making my own a j mattingly. These are memories and great tasting bourbons.
