As you can tell by many of the following comments, the suggestion of Lithium batteries for EVs in the 1970's is getting the reaction the petroleum industry wanted. The lithium battery FAD was a conspiratorial setup for FAILURE, so people would revert back to Petroleum fuels. What that Industry was even more afraid of was internal-combustion- engine vehicles fueled by WATER that is split into pure Hydrogen and PURE Oxygen on-board the vehicle with an electrolysizer. Nowadays, why pay $4-$5/gallon for diesel or gasoline, when you can run a vehicle that produces no CO2 for 25 to 50¢ per gallon ??? They'll destroy this planet so they can rake in their BEEEELION$$ from most of the people on our planet who are SCIENCE FLUNKIES.

They turn up the music and fail to give any serious fire safety instruction because NO ONE knows how to put theses fires out in any reasonable period of time. They play music because they can't describe the chemistry and physics of the EV fire and how their blanket traps the CO2 that's being produced under the blanket. They don't know what it means to keep the fire gasses rich as you exclude oxygen to prevent the fire gasses from entering the explosive range. They (Bridgehill) only understands the visual anecdotal evidence but they don't have the research or the tactics figured out because all they are interested in is selling fire blankets. For example, why are theses firefighters not playing a fire stream on the car fire before they cover it with the blanket? They aren't doing this because they don't know that the heat of the fire will convert the water to steam at a rate of 1700:1. They don't know that the steam produced under the blanket will create a positive pressure and exclude oxygen. They don't know that they are there to prevent a Hydrogen Floride gas explosion and that the lack of water on the fire can and has been known to cause a gas explosion under the blanket. If you don't know what you are doing you don't need speciality fire equipment, like the fire blanket. Just let it burn and try to stay out of the fires way as you do nothing to mitigate it. Neat blanket, tho what good is that going to do in a lithium fire? Lithium produces it's own oxygen, keeping the fire active..

If you buy a electric vehicle you are supporting child slave labour and damaging the environment alot more. Stick to your normal diesel engine alot safer and will save you money.

The problem is the batteries produce their own oxidizer, it can’t be snuffed out. It has to burn through its fuel before it can be fully extinguished. Even fully submerged in water doesn’t stop the blaze

When will governments all stop worshipping the false god of so-called climate change and acknowledge just how dangerous EVs really are? Not to mention they are in no way "green", are inconvenient, inefficient and expensive, plus fire fighters need new training and equipment, and they are dangerous in enclosed spaces such as home garages or public car parks. I would not have one if they were free!

There's no "god" and nobody is "worshipping" climate change. Climate change is just a consequence of global warming, which we are accelerating. If your emotions make it difficult to deal with this fact, that's a you problem.

I smell a rat, during thermal runaway the battery reaches over 2000 c, not 1000. Also, the chemical reaction provides it's own oxygen to the fire which is why they are so hard to extinguish. So I'm going to call this a badly staged fake.

Imagine something like that catching fire next to 20 others in a closed garage? You can say goodbye to the building for structural damage. If I owned a building I would ban these EVs in the garage.

ICE cars cause that to happen often enough. Nothing will change, except it might get more rare because EV fires are far less common.

This is the future of fighting the MANY EV fires we're going to be seeing in the years to come. And that means EVERY major FD and airport in the world will need these. This blanket and the knock-offs that will come down the pipe will make the patent holders very, very rich.

Thermal runaway fire doesn't need oxygen to keep burning. That fire has all the chemistry it needs in that battery. That is why the fire can continue even when the car is under water.
