I grind French press and chemex on 34, but I tweak both depending on the beans. Lighter beans get ground finer. I am using 30 for chemex more and playing with guns fiber than 34 for French press.

Great video! I found 1200μm microns on my Fellow Opus grinder is setting "6" via the Beanie app. I made it on a "5" this morning and it's way too bitter (James Hoffman method).

Do you need to use more coffee than u would if brewing hot coffee. I usually use 2 desert spoons for my small press, would this be enough for the cold brew also thanks

The paper filter in an aero press removes some of the oils from the grounds of the coffee, if you drink enough black coffee you absolutely notice the difference. Coffee from a french press tastes more greasy (not bad, just oily) I prefer the aero press so long as you have enough filters, but I bought 2 packs years ago and still have a ton

When the lock ring gets stuck I just twist the grind adjustment down to free it. The basket threads are a bit finicky but I’ve had my lido 3 for about 7 years, it’s been absolutely rock solid. The machining on everything is superb. Take it apart every once in a while for deep cleans and you won’t be disappointed.

So just to confirm, when tightening the new bur, you’re “hand tightening only”. Never using the drill to tighten it at any point.

I do like the grind from this. But it stops there. The design is poor. There are way too many nooks, crannies, cracks and crevices for grounds. Quite a pain to get it properly cleaned. The first time I cleaned mine, I had to turn it upside down to clean a spot, and grounds that had fallen into the body of the unit because of an open crevice below the ground bin, got between the LCD screen and the clear cover. And it will not go away. The best way I have found to start cleaning mine is to vacuum as much of the loos grounds ou that I can. Then I can start the actual cleaning. I should NOT have to use a vacuum to clean a coffee grinder.

Why show a thermometer if no temperature is referenced? I have never never made coffee in a French press, so for me it is not as easy as ‘grind, boil, brew’

Everybody seems to tell you something different in these videos. One person says don't remove the crust from the coffee, then another (this guy) tells you to scoop out the grounds at the top before using the plunger. Who do you believe?

Everyone wants the chart. Everyone, please just do your own ratio. Start with 1 part coffee to 2 parts filtered H2O. Change the ratios up depending on your taste. ☕🎯

Reminds me of hundreds of mobile phone reviews which get into all kindsa fun features - how fast, how many pixel cam, all the speed checks, how far the gaming - but omit signal reception quality and whether you can actually make understandable calls. My Nexus 6 - that had the Google stamp of approval - was to useless for calling unless Bluetooth gadgets were used.

last tip - don't use any of the tools shown in this video because they all suck pretty bad. A portable gas burner is just about the most insane way to boil water in a kitchen.
