does this require a 3rd joystick in cab ???? i hope not i really hope it can be hooked direct to a machine electrial plug in so a person can use the original joysticks in cab

It sucks that operators and companies are getting swindled into thousands of dollars of tech, when I do this free hand with a level plane laser.

There's always one "all I need is a standard bucket, some fuel, and a bubble" and I'll "free hand" a perfect finish grade. Maybe you are that capable, there's definitely guys out there with that kind of skill. However, that skill isn't developed over a few jobs and all people are doing is "spending thousands" to make up for that time. Don't get mad because a guy can buy tools like this and in their first couple of years outbid and outwork you...

If you use the CAT smart grader it doesnt require additional equipment, just changes over your factory screens and controls automatically

I have a cat machine but it does not have buttons on the right side joystick. How will this effect the grader?

You will need to upgrade the joystick in order to use all the machine functions, but it is a relatively simple plug & play upgrade. On the D-series it should be Cat #273-9104, but please confirm this with your Cat parts department prior to ordering.

Is a Cat 259 too small of a machine for this? I am looking for an attachment to grade stone on driveways especially after tailgate spreading with a Triaxle

A 259D should do fine for grading tailgated stone. Cutting virgin soil might give it a workout though, due to traction.
