How're you getting on with the key 61 and rc 505 pairing? I loop on the r 505 and looking to upgrade my keyboard for better quality sounds. I see a bunch of the reviews say the key 61 struggles for live performance applications but I think the 505 may fill the gaps? Did you run the mic through the keyboard or looper? Great rapping btw :)
@JetpackSuperheroes9 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. I'm getting on good with it. I've used it in some songs I've liked enough to put to streaming services and I like the pairing in studio. It might be my favorite out of the box and ready to record quality piece I've got. Tons of options and the sounds are current sounding to me. I've made a few songs and used it to remix some things before a dj gig to decent success. I like the way they play together, but people are right, it's not so awesome as a live rig for gigs. The Key 61 is a studio piece in my opinion. It weighs a lot, and the sounds don't load fast enough for my liking but I'd still stream live with it. You also have to remember where the sounds you like are, or pop them into 256 slots called favorites. There's not great way to search sounds fast. With my other keyboards I could access sounds faster, with less menu diving and that let me get to the song with less wait time. I started setting up song files that were blank but with sounds that I liked together to save time, but even that lead to a load time that would mute my mic while loading if I ran it into the mpc key 61. This was fixed when I ran the mic right into the looper, I liked the idea of vocals being on the mpc but every time I loaded a new project I had to start over with loading effects, or taking them off to use other effects units too. I definitely still love playing with the pairing, but I've been exploring better matches for live sets because that's where a lot of my passion lies. That instant gratification you know.

The solo at 2:03 is really smooth, nice job man. Did you write it ahead of time or improvise it? Also it's like a solo within a solo because you are the whole band. I like the teaching aspect here too. It's a cool format actually reading the description then watching it play out.
@JetpackSuperheroes22 күн бұрын
Thanks man. I wrote it all as I went. I strum out chords or noodle for a moment until I find something I like and then I hit the "learn button" on the pedal while I play it. Then I sing about whatever someone in the chat suggests, or sometimes what I am thinking about. Fortunately, I've played long enough now that I can get lucky and fit chords together so I can pretend to be good for 5 minutes at a time.

Hah, well your experience is coming through so that's awesome. Idk if I speak for any of your other subs or not but I bet videos teaching how to use your various gadgets would go over well and could maybe be a series. I'd be interested in any case. Anyhow rock on my man!

That's a great idea man, I probably have enough gadgets to keep a series going for a little bit. 😄 I do get asked to do rig rundowns on streams a lot but I never clip any out. I will for sure do one this summer.

I’m considering adding a RC 505 to my setup. The key 61 is almost perfect, if only we could use the pads to mute and unmute midi and audio tracks all together.
@JetpackSuperheroes2 ай бұрын
yeah that's one of the things, is I originally had it recording a loop and then triggering it at the beginning of 4 bars, but it was taking way to long, and sometimes it would freeze the keyboard. I decided to offload the looping to the rc505 to make it easier to work with. It runs smoother and a lot faster to get in and out of a loop record which I was using for vocals.
@mobeats24432 ай бұрын
Nice setup. Ever consider making a tutorial?
@JetpackSuperheroes2 ай бұрын
thank you. Would you suggest a tutorial on how everything is setup or more a direct how to make beats type thing? I made a few demos of how I'd make beats but never anything more than a "follow a long walkthrough."

First of all, wow that was awesome. How do you get your vortex wireless 2 to sound that good, I bought one not to long ago, do you have any tips? How do you do all those live Loopings? Do you have any tips for the preset editor? What softwares do you use? BTW I don’t have any physical electronic looper or midi devices, just my vortex. I would really appreciate it if you helped me
@JetpackSuperheroes8 ай бұрын
Thank you!!! The vortex is an awesome midi controller. Definitely map out what you want to do with it and then look over the midi implementation manuals to get it to do what you wanna do. All of the live looping for instruments is done with the MC707 (the thing on the tray table to my immediate right) and the vocals are looped through an RC500. My tips for the preset editor are to write down which channels and cc messages you wanna use and then set them up on the editor. I had to go back and forth between my notes and the editor a few times as I realized I liked positions of things in different spots while I played, but didn't play right near my comp so having the notebook was handy. The only software is the vortex editor to change the presets. Everything else is hardware. Planning out what tones work together and setting up the mc707 took me the longest but it really was worth it in the end. The neat thing with the device is you can test it with the pads on the device so I didn't have to constantly wire in the keytar. One device I'd check out is the mc101, it can be setup similar to the mc707 and it's battery powered so you can use it at open mics. This is what I'm doing right now. Any help I can be, I'm always happy to help, us keytarists gotta stick together. good luck and thank you for the kind words and watching.
