Remember spending my childhood coming from Greenock spending my summer holidays at my granny's house on Broadway in Belfast during 70s-80s (yes holidays in a war zone !!) And remember getting the boat train late at night in Larne on these trains with nearly every window smashed , mental.

It’s good that they’re working fast because that will ensure the space is clear to continue with the construction of the new station and that it will be open sooner rather than later. I’m actually very impressed with how quickly they built this new facility.

To clear the air on the red signal. I can assure you that the train would be cleared by the signaler with written permission and clear instructions. As for the reliability of the 201's. They are near to 30 years old and perhaps a full overhaul of them via Progress Rail with new EMD 710 units or the Caterpillar C-175 units would be ideal and would meet Tier 4 emissions.

80 class number 82 along with 89 were the first sandite train set, 90 did do a bit of sandite before 69 but it had a engine problem so it was kept in storage and 69 replaced it.

Very unusual crossing, but it seems quite effective and much better than manually opened gates- apart from that irritating alarm and voice. I hate any machine that insists on telling me what to do, like supermarket self-service check-outs.

There’s a few houses right next to a no barrier crossing at Quarry Lane, Minffordd near Penrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd, Wales. The alarms there are quite loud too, so they also must love hearing it! 😂

No clue, I do know that this is the only crossing updated with this design in N.I with it unusually being fitted with electric barriers operating from Central’s signal cabin.
