My question is… are the sights selected for each day located near each others so that you don’t waste time on train/bus. Also, the total time spent each day sight seeings are evenly distributed, not too long one day, etc?

Carris (buses) on there website show "accessible routes" (and buses displaying a blue disability symbol I believe) but nowhere do they describe the procedure with a wheelchair/electric wheelchair for boarding on these routes: is it a ramp? Is it a manual or automatic ramp if so? Is it still at the front of the bus or in the middle on the "bendy" buses? Is there, perhaps a blue button to press on the outside/inside? Does the driver assist or need to know a disabled person is aboard? I have a Portuguese friend who answered many questions I had but does not use the buses :) I have emailed Carris without (so far) a response. Can you or anyone else adding comments add any information? Thanks.
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal 3 күн бұрын
If you are a wheelchair user, you usually extend your hand to signal the driver you intend to board the bus. He will open a middle door and extend the ramp so you can get inside the bus. To get off, there is a special button next to where you will travel that will allow you to request the next stop.

Hi, there is a left-luggage facility at the airport indeed. Hotels don't usually offer a day-use rate, if you want to stay in one you will have to make an ordinary booking. The alternative is to pay for access to a VIP lounge, but it is usually offered only from four hours before the departure of your flight.

Thank you, Tony. This is great information. As we flew to/from Madrid from the states on TAP, we changed planes in Lisbon on both journeys. Ultimately, we did wind up driving between in Madrid and Lisbon during our Iberian adventure last Summer. While flying saves a ton of time, the experiencing driving between the two cities was simply magical. Quite simply (and obviously) you see many things along the way, such as random castles atop small mountains, quaint towns along the countryside and Roman 'ruins' here and there. The landscape of the Spanish countryside along the A5 reminded us a lot of I-90 through South Dakota/Wyoming, with that prairie/brush feel to it. On a deeply personal level, driving between Madrid and Lisbon really does go a long way towards developing a sense of 'intimacy' with both Spain and Portugal. So much so with us that my wife and I are considering Spain as a landing spot for our empty nest phase in four years. I highly recommend driving the peninsula. Additionally, I ABSOLUTELY recommend subscribing to Tony's channel. The information he provides is diligently assembled, thoughtfully presented and HIGHLY beneficial to those of us who are new to the area! He goes above and beyond to make certain that you have all the info you need for a great travel experience.

We are deeply grateful for your kind words. And couldn't agree more on the subject of slow travel. Driving allows you a different type of contact with the territory you are exploring. The vast majority of people want to go from Lisbon to Madrid and vice versa, and for them the plane is probably the best option. But anyone with more time to spare would do well in exploring the possibilities of a road trip. Hope you'll find the best possible place for your future!

Hi, Tony. Thank you so much for all your helpful videos. I’ve been using them in preparation for my first time visiting Spain. I’ve run into a bit of a situation and would love your advice on what to do. I’m looking at train tickets for my friends and me from Madrid-Chamartín to Leon in August, but there’s conflicting train information on Renfe and Trainline. On Renfe, there are only four trains, and only one late option is available for purchase. One is sold out, and the other two say Este tren no se encuentra disponible para la venta en estos momentos. Disculpe las molestias. On Trainline, only three options appear. Two are sold out, and only the late option is available. I’ve been checking the websites since April with little luck, and I’m confused, seeing as there are still many options for tomorrow’s travel from Madrid to Leon. My ideal train time shows up as unavailable for purchase at the moment on Refe and sold out on Trainline. I need to get to my destination before the late train option, so I’m in a bind here. Should I buy the late option now and change the time later, or should I wait longer to see if things change on either website?
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal 4 күн бұрын
Hi there, when that happens (plenty of services for a near date but hardly any for a more distant date) the usual explanation is that the tickets for the furthers away date haven't been introduced in the system yet. But with Renfe, you never know. You might want to purchase a ticket class that allows for changes, but there's a risk involved there. I'd wait.

Hello Mike, Renfe has just introduced a new model of train for the AVLOs (most still run on the old train featured in the video) that contains rows of 5 seats (2 to one side of the corridor and 3 to the other). We haven't tested it yet but apparently the size of the seats is exactly the same, the change has been made possible by the design of the carriage. That would explain your seat allocation.
