Not one word AB it the required physical and programmatic access for people with disabilities. Mr. Quintero clearly felt the need to be part of this video, but neither he or the other presenter said anything about either physical or programmatic accesswithin that State park!

But is Mt Diablo accessible? How many miles or its trails are accessible to those living with mobility disabilities or who are blind? Why didn't the video commentary say anything about accessibility within the Mt. Diablo Stat Parks?

Just this morning I was thinking - where can I find free beach access? A place to pull up, have lunch and enjoy the view - free - as in no entry fee or yearly membership. . . or parks pass. Can't think of a single free beach in California. Born in the 50's and raised here in the Golden State. This is where you pay to play.

Sooo beautiful and magnificent! Redwoods are the best!! They make me feel so happy and peaceful 🥰❤️ I’m growing 3 Giant Sequoias, 3 Coastal Redwoods, and 3 Dawn Redwoods in my backyard. We must do our part to protect these endangered trees!

I viewed this short video after seeing a link from the California State Parks Foundation Golden Chanterelle webpage. I was pretty shocked to read there that they encourage ONLY "experts" and paid group forays in the picking of wild mshrooms at SPSP. And yet, even in this video, Patrick talks about the magic of hunting alone! There are many generations of folks who learned at SPSP, most without the benefit of a paid guide. Collecting and identifying fungi at home is EXACTLY how one can learn best! Due to the Park actually now encouraging these paid forays, with every weekend and goodness knows how many weekdays, booked up by these multi-person, expensive paid forays, many mushroom clubs, who do this work for free, are being locked out. I, too, have hunted and strolled in that park for 30 years, and it is being way over-picked. And trampled. And these forays also head out in drought conditions, with nothing to be seen. Let the buyer beware. And does the 10% of those gathered fees (only from those who do this officially, of course; there are def folks going under the radar, too) go directly to the park itself, or to some nebulous general state entity, because it sure would be nice to have this beautiful park better managed and with more open restrooms and more Woodside camping year round. It was my understanding that one pays a flat fee to have an event/reserve that day at SPSP, with only two events allowed per day, and then one must pay for insurance (prohibitively expensive for a one-off, free event for the public; I'm sure this cost is built into those high fees for regular paid events) to walk our own woods. Is this 10% donated by Patrick's company above and beyond that given amount? I am now, and have been for a while, concerned about the commercialization of mushroom hunting at Salt Point, the only State Park that allows this healthful and fun activity. It needn't be expensive, and one doesn't need an expert guide to find and photograph and collect fungi. It takes time to learn your fungi, but in my opinion, that is time well spent. One trip with an expert, whomever that expert is, is certainly not enough.

So, once again, those folks who live with a disability are being left out of the discussion relating to the "creation of a culture of inclusion in State Parks!

I was fortunate to meet and become friends with Alice Royal. She became a Nurse. She was born and raised here. She was a mesmerizing woman with uplifting stories about the Colonel his children and his wife Josephine Leavell Allensworth an accomplished organist. Col.Allensworth was chaplain of the Buffalo Soldiers 24th Infantry Regiment.

Agreed, we can't allow for an emotionally charged finger pointing approach. We need rational, focused, physical plans based on dispassionate empiricism and what we can actually do instead of hunting witches! Action over mean politics is an approach I will support today with a few bucks to CalParks... even as a geologist in Wyoming!

I think this is great but would like to make a suggestion! You should offer park protectors 10% of merchandise inside gift shops (currently thinking of the Salton Sea SP). Trust me, I’m 50x more likely to purchase something inside a NPS now that I’m a member of the Western National Parks Association & get 10% off.

Love this place too. I got to visit during the "living history" days when I was a kid. I remember making a candle by putting a string in heated wax in a big cauldron. Kids would hang their strings in the cauldron while walking around the edge together in a kind of merrie-go-round. We would pull up the strings and look to see how much wax had accumulated to let it cool for a moment before getting more wax. You could tell how long someone was there by how much wax they got. I got to eat some basic flour-water bread out of the clay ovens they have on the grounds, too. Across the road there were hay rides on wagons that were pretty fun. There were also some animals around the grounds. Goats, chickens, and horses are what I remember. There is a big farming community in those parts. They have a County Fair around the same time in the summers where farmers bring their Sheep, goats, chicken/hens, and cows to see who will win the Blue ribbon. Why just this year there were even Rabbits and Guinea Pigs added to get some ribbons for best breeds. Coupled along with the local elementary school kids card board presentations on rabbits describing/naming the different kind of rabbits. It is one of the few communities in the area with significant landmarks that still celebrate the rich history. Feels like small-town midwest or east sometimes with the local Butter & Eggs Day Parade, Veteran's Day Parade, River Festival with the cardboard boat race, and the County Fair with The Ugliest Dog Competition. If you have the means, it is a great place to raise a family.

So sad. We pay huge taxes and when it comes to doing something to help the people the state is does nothing. The deal was we pay taxes and the state will in return provide roads that are not falling apart, decent schools, manage the water supply, control crime, and manage the parks. They are failing at on eof those things
