I was there a couple of weeks ago - construction traffic for the ecological disaster known as the "Tren Maya" has wrecked the first 40KM of road (not so much fun trailing behind a massive Kenworth). When you reach the jungle building site, there's a new section of road being built so you have to keep hopping up earth ramps onto the narrow completed portion. There's also a whole range of red flag stops - budget at least 2 hours for the 60KM at the moment plus time with a chiropractor when you get home.

We have visited the Bayview a few times - last time, a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I think COVID and lack of tourists has caused major financial issues for all the hotels. Lack of upkeep is evident and there's an air of tirdness generally. It is quite sad. We are moving to Penang in the next couple of year and would probably purchase resort day passes for the Rasa Sayang. One thing we very much enjoyed was the beach bar close to the Bayview - Frandy's.

You are the typical American. You went to a restaurant "expecting" whatever you ordered to be and taste the way you wanted or felt that it should be and because for whatever reason it was not and you were being charged a high price for that, you were disgruntled. You have absolutely no right to put your personal negative feeling towards a meal that you personally selected and ordered just because you didn't like it for whatever you paid. There are plenty cheaper places. The meal was not what you thought it to be from your home countries perspective. Where you ate that meal is their country, their way of doing things, their flavours - don't imagine and have the perspective it's the same as your countries of way of thinking. Yes, its an experience eating things in a different country to yours, but it is theirs, don't try psychologically to make it yours just because you don't like something. Experience the wonder and move on. Don't worry as soon as you get back to America you can order your American definition of "delicious" and "healthy" seafood meal at red lobster, Long John Silver, Wendy's, etc for a lot less...right. The restaurant provided what you ordered for the price. If is was not what you liked or not what you compared it to be in your American culture mind, then suck it up and leave once paying. Don't whine because you are upset and didn't enjoy the meal and go all a social network "dogging" a place because it was not to your personal standards - arrogancy at it's highest as usual. You even say in the video clip, maybe you should KNOW what it is you're ordering. Really!!!! I live in Da Nang and have been here for ten years. I have also been to that specific restaurant twice in the past, and found that the food was absolutely delicious.

I am with you 100%! Although, I like the beautiful beach surroundings & natural environments of Da Nang…. Last night was my first day in Da Nang & had a horrible experience of food (costly)+ taxi drivers threat😰. Since, I don’t know any Vietnamese I asked hotel employees to recommend a nice local restaurant. The food was the worst ever (smelt bad= I know fresh food smell because I have been to many places I.e. Boracay, Phuket, Bangkok, Bali, Guam, etc). Took several taxis on my way back to hotel because the restaurant employee told wrong hotel name to taxi driver (even though I showed her the hotel business card+hotel name written in Vietnamese). Each time I got transferred to a taxi the drivers charged me overpriced amounts!!! I had no choice but pay them (it was almost 9 pm and dark at night + got no changes). Thanks God, I wasted all my Dongs last night that I won’t be able to go out anymore. Just going to swim and enjoy in the hotel and leave in 3 days.

We are very sorry for your experience. We had the hotel arrange our taxi to the resyurant and my wife followed our path with Google maps. Then we started to walk home on the main beachfront street since our hotel was directly across from the beach. We hailed a taxi when we tired and new the location of the hotel so there were no shenanigans. Besides this horrible meal our experience in Da Nang was really positive. Next time we will get our seafood fix at the open market across from the Dragon Bridge. 👍
