Both Desi and Lucy looked great together if only Desi wasn't a notorious cheater,an alcoholic and a gambler.

I find that Lucille Ball was one of the most beautiful women in old Hollywood - actually her different styles - brown hair, blond, redhead, brunette - all wonderful looks - so many different photos show her to be to me the most beautiful - while I loved Myna Loy and Maureen O'Hara - Lucy is #1. In Dance Girl Dance, Maureen is lovely but Lucy steals the scenes with her presence.

Lucy & Desi were the most in love couple that ever lived

Although it is easy to state that Desi had taken on the role to hardened Lucille Ball's heart but after viewing Desi and Lucy home movies and reading the story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, you could draw through such conclusion. Given the fact that Lucille Ball had experiences some hardships through her early childhood, that she somehow managed not allow anyone to get through her emotionally. As soon as Desi Arnaz entered her life, she somehow allowed him to become a part of her life. From the beginnings of their courtship and married, both Desi and Lucy had brought their share emotional baggage into the relationship. As luck would have it, I truly believe that is why neither Desi and Lucy could ever depart from each other completely.
@reginabaker5676 жыл бұрын
It turned out that upon accepting Morton's proposal, Lucy insisted on introducing him to Desi because she felt as though he still played a major part in her life not to be consulted. For Desi's part, he wasn't quite happy seeing Lucy with another man or take on the role being a stepfather to their kids Lucie and Desi Jr., however, he didn't wanted to stand in the way of Lucy being happy. Not surprisingly, when Desi wed Edith McSkiming Hirsch, by the bride's request , Lucy wasn't invited to the wedding. But according to the fact neither Desi or Lucy haven't quite adjusted through being divorce because that it would had turned out being some form of episode taken from the "I Love Lucy". It really didn't seem right for Desi to attend Lucy and Morton's ceremony especially since it marked eleven days prior to what would have been the twenty-first anniversary of the Arnaz nuptials. Meanwhile, Morton and Edie became known being just as props through the scenarios of Desi and Lucy regretting to say goodbye to each other emotionally.

do you know even after Divorce , Lucy almost went back to Desi, even , the day after she signed divorce papers she also went to Bed with Desi, sorry but Gary and Edie never stood a chance, Edie had to put up with Desi's drinking and Womanising, but i think she just was able to kinda put up with it, how i will never, know, she was also a Lucy look alike,
@LJ-ht4zs6 ай бұрын
I don 't think they were just "props." The Desi Lucy marriage was over and done before their actual divorce and they were sad, angry and disappointed in the collapse of their marriage - but it was OVER. Only after they divorced they became more relaxed and could resume a warm friendship with each other.

Not entirely true. It was Lucy’s choice to not attend Desi and Edie’s wedding ceremony.

We can now reflect on passing of Desi Arnaz as a time to keep his families in our prays. And second, based on Lucille Ball hasn't never really gotten over Desi Arnaz, we can just imagine how she is coping with it. This especially since his time of death would have marked their 46th wedding anniversary. Third, there is also evidence that he has never stop loving Lucille Ball Arnaz. What can we conclude from this that the "I Love Lucy" show wasn't just to keep the world entertain but express his everlasting and undeniable love to his wife Lucille Ball Arnaz. Again, when speaking about this particular moment, he will truly be miss by everyone.

I think that a part of Lucille Ball's heart and soul hardened when she divorced Desi, and she became somewhat bitter about giving her love (body and soul) to someone only to have that somebody cheat on her and drink and carouse. Her intense love for him was like a drug. She was being humiliated by his dalliances with other women that were being publicly revealed by the newspapers, yet still loved him with the passion that newlyweds share. Finally, she just couldn't take the public humiliation of his dalliances and his drinking any longer. Gary Morton was a comfortable fit for Lucy, because she didn't think that he would cheat on her, thereby giving her some much desired domestic stability. Unfortunately, Gary was an oft times absent husband, playing golf each day, taking long telephone calls from friends, and disappearing on weekends for golf events, leaving Lucy alone. Thank God she had one true friend at the time, Lee Tannen, who was able to fill the void created by her divorce from Desi and the distance Gary created between them. Gary was an opportunist. He married her for financial security, and gave her what she needed, because he knew what she needed in a very calculating way. Before their marriage in 1961, he even stated (Ha!) that he never heard of her before because he was always working nights in the Catskills at the time. Bullshit! This man knew of her career and her legend and attached himself to her like gorilla glue. He said what she wanted to hear, and did what she thought he should do, so that he could have a very comfortable lifestyle. Gary loved collecting vintage cars, so Lucy purchased many for him. When Desi died, so did Lucy, even though she outlived him physically for three more years. Her heart was torn to pieces by his passing, and she lived the rest of her days in a state of severe depression and agoraphobia. She had lost her will to live.

Actually, I really liked The Lucy Show - which won two Emmy awards - 1967 & 1968. Lucy was starring in and producing that show, as well as being the Head of Desilu Studios. When she first took it over it, it was losing money - she sold it - for 17million dollars from Paramount. She was a genius herself, starring in and producing a show as well as running Desilu Studios taking into the black, as well as raising two children.

I give a heap of credit to the second spouses of each of these icons. I mean, I don't think I could be strong enough to 'play second fiddle' to a love as powerful as that. I'd be waaaay too insecure, I think.

I believe Gary and Edith were more best friends of Lucy and Desi, than lovers. They knew how much Lucy and Desi cared about each other. I know Desi loved Lucy and in the end he just wanted her to be happy no matter who she was with.

@@anthonyvarricchio1404 I liked Gary because Lucy always seemed relaxed and comfortable with him. He supported and cared for her - and as she first said to Carol Burnett when she introduced them, "He makes me laugh". Their marriage lasted 28 years and there was never a time when negative publicity came out about them. Their kids Lucie Arnaz and Desi Jr liked their step-father, Gary Morton. He did not try to take them over or interfere with their relationship with their father. Lucie Arnaz said when they first married their father was devastated, but then a few years later he remarried Edie Hirsch, who they also liked a lot. Lucie said her father used to joke about his name calling him Barry Norton. But they ended up playing golf together. For at least 15 years after they divorced - Desi sent flowers to Lucy on their anniversary. When asked what Gary thought about that - he said he didn't care.
@usforsarah2 ай бұрын
@@LJ-ht4zs Meh. Her marriage to Gary was dull and she settled for him cause her mother and some friends encouraged her to remarry asap. He was a stooge. There was a time that he wanted to leave the marriage. Lucy’s kids were never his biggest fan, they’re too classy to say anything negative. Desi, Vivian and others knew he was an opportunist but kept their distaste for themselves for the most part. Lucy grew bitter as she got older and totally dove into work after her divorce from Desi.
