Hi Karen, thank you so much for your lovely comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the tips in the video. (I'm not actually a left-hander, though some of my favourite people are - namely Rafael Nadal in Tennis 💖😅😂) ... and many other great left-handers!!🥳) I can do and teach both left and right hand... and have a few really lovely long- term left handeders who do classes with me,... so am aware of some of the challenges they face 😊... my advice is usually to 'face onwards' to the demonstrator... so that you are seeing it being done 'your way' 🤗😘 * I have done this filming with my phone, so yes, in some instances it may look in reverse... Happy Stitching to you. Kind Regards, Debbie 🌷 ♥️🪡🧵

Hi there I live in QLD Australia and jst came across ur video I taught myself EPP by watching youtube as theres no sewing classes around near me to learn EPP can you use invisible thread fo this ?
@debbiedonegan7335
@debbiedonegan7335 4 ай бұрын
Hi Gina, welcome to the wonderful world of EPP. (It can be very addictive!!😊) Whilst it's not something I would personally recommend, it doesn't mean you couldn't try if you wanted to...). My thoughts behind not using it... is that it is a plastic/ synthetic thread... that I do know can 'melt' under excessive heat). .. from the iron etc...and with EPP there is no actual fabric 'seam' that crosses over one another when joining your Hexies together... so you are relying solely on the strength of a 'plastic' thread to not deteriorate...🙉🙊🫠. This is not something, I'd be personally comfortable with. When we are choosing our thread... our aim is to have/ use a Fine strong thread that will "glide" through your fabric, ... hence the very fine needle... and the very FINE thread. I feel that you would be better off to do the flat backstitch that I recommend... and use a Fine straw Milliners needle too... preferably size 11. I wish you well, and hope that you enjoy your EPP journey... Best wishes and happy Stitching to you. 😊🤗 Kind Regards, Debbie 🌷

@ginaashby6782 If you try to loosen your hold a little bit whilst you are stitching your EPP ... You'll find you won't get as much pain through your fingers. (Is the 'tight grip' that tends to cause a bit of pain... until your muscle memory kicks in too). Practice does make it much easier, and your muscles remember the motions... so my biggest tip is to be conscious of dropping your shoulders and not hold things so tightly... enjoy your Stitching 🌷

Thank you so much for your enquiry on the Part 1 EPP Video... and I'm glad you liked all the tips and instructions given in Part 2 of it. Unfortunately, video one ended up being filmed during an extremely noisy storm season here. I ended up with interference from heavy rain, hail, lightning and thunder... and the eventual loss of power and trees down. I withdrew it because it had a lot of noise interference going on with the storms - and tried to re-film and upload numerous times!!! *(If I get a bit of spare time one day, I will relook at it all... and gauge how bad the nose interference is). I've looked for your first Video to this series. But I don't see it. And it sounds like there's a lot of information that I would be interested in getting from it. Thank you so much for such beautiful comments. It makes my heart sing to read your truly beautiful review..."Thank you." I truly love teaching and passing on knowledge so that others can enjoy doing our beautiful crafts, too. So I'm so glad you enjoyed all the information and tips... thank you. (On a side note, it is funny to hear you say I have an 'accent'... as it's just how we naturally talk 😊. I've never considered having an accent, but I suppose as the internet opens us up, yes, we do all have our own ways 😂😅...(I'd love to know where you were watching this from 🌏). In relation to my first video, it was filmed during a period of big storms here on our property in Australia... and I was making it for my little class of 8 girls... never did I think my tips would go out to 27,000 people know!!! ...That's crazy!!! ) But yes, I withdrew the first video after it had a lot of noise disturbance and continual power problems during the filming, etc. So at some stage, when I get a bit of spare time up my sleeve, I will sit down and realists to it... and see how bad the storm interference is... and perhaps be able to resurrect it if it's not too bad. Thank you again for your lovely comments, I really appreciate it... and Happy Stitching to you. Especially choosing with the color thread. I am very interested in watching part one, but I cannot find it. Can you tell me how I can watch part one. I have also scanned some of your newer videos and although I have not ever done appliqué, I am very interested in so I will watch some of those also and I am also subscribing. @debbiedonegan7335 8 ай бұрын
Hi Veronica, thank you for your lovely comments. I'm glad you found the information helpful 👏👏 And in relation to the silk thread... single strand only. (The whole point of choosing a lovely fine needle, and a lovely fine, strong thread - is that they will both glide through your EPP... and 'disappear' into your work. Doubling up the thread would make it quite 'thick' again... and therefore harder to pull through... and not 'glide'. I hope this helps. Happy Stitching to you 🌷

Thanks so much for your video. I’ve learned new things from here. I’ve tried doing the other stitch as I saw someone doing it elsewhere but find it really hard to do, it started aggravating an old shoulder injury. I’ve learned to embrace being able to see the stitches especially after seeing some antique quilts. In a world of fast paced perfection I’ve loved slowing down and thinking that I stitched every single one of those tiny stitches. It makes me feel proud of myself. Im going to try silk thread at your recommendation. I’ve been using Aurifl 80 weight and have a Sue Daley pack of Wonderfil 80 weight but found it frustrating with the needle becoming unthreaded all of the time. Would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on needle turn appliqué. That sounds a bit above my level but would love to learn it.

How long should the thread be when starting to stitch?
@debbiedonegan7335
@debbiedonegan7335 Жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, My recommendation is to always have the thread with a 10cm 'hang'... and then to the length of your own elbow. ( Not longer... as This saves any 'twisting' of the Threads, unneccessary knots etc). * This length is the same as recommended for hand embroidery etc too. Hope this helps. @debbiedonegan7335

Hi Diane, yes you simply do your knot so that the needle goes between the fabric layer and the paper layer... holding your "shapes" flat... that way the knot... and all your stitches sit very neatly in the two folds.... NOT A STITCH IN SIGHT!! 🤗🥰😘 Is a really good method, and all you have to ensure is that your glue is dry before starting...🥰😘 ( I've just been featured on a very quick little video on craftalivehawkesbury facebook... showing me stitching this method again - if you'd like to have a quick look). It really works well. Cheers, Debbie 🌺

Thanks very much for your comments. I showcased the threads through out the video including the 2 brands of it that I really recommend... and personally use myself too. We use a beautifully fine SILK THREAD, both in the Daruma and Guiterman brand. When used with the Milliners Needles size 11, they both just glide through your EPP. I also use them for all my Needleturn Appliqué and sewing of the binding on by hand. Regards, Debbie
