I am a 2009 graduate of the Erikson Institute in Chicago who has Recently been hired as a social worker in Arizona, USA. I logged on to review: this was a wonderful, in-depth review of Erikson’s developmental theory ( with added comparison to Freud’s theory). Excellent! Thank you very much.

The presentation of the subject is fantastic (vocally), but the powerpoint is horrendous. Your "accent" (I think) is better than you think, and you do not necesarilly need the aid of a written text in order for people to understand you. Your accent is thick, but you are very understandable. What I would personally suggest, is take the 'hard' words or the 'easily-confused' words (or just the long words), and then have these words be 60-70% of the words in your powerpoint. But the subject and its contents are extremely good - thank you. :-)

I am sorry that you feel that way. If I were to explain what you are going through according to Erik Erikson's theory, I would say that the psycho-social crisis that Erikson talks about, For eg: autonomy vs shame, is seen in that particular stage (Age 2-4 yrs). Meaning if you are able to balance between these two conflicts, you will develop the virtue of willpower and self-control. If you are not able to balance the crisis in this particular stage you would develop malignancy or maladaptation, namely: shameless willfulness or compulsion. If you are having these feelings at your age, it is possible that it can be due to some other reasons and you might wanna speak to your doctor about it. I am not a psychologist or a doctor but if you have feelings of shame, guilt, purposelessness and you do not feel motivated, then therapy can help you. The therapy I would highly recommend is Solution Focused Therapy. Please consult a therapist and they might be able to help you.

Just wow this presentation is highly recommended. You provided the ideas so clearly and thoroughly. The organization is perfect. Leading us through the simple ideas first and into the more complex ones. I like how you provided other ideas like how his identity crises theory also stated that people of genius will struggle longer with that particular stage. And adding the story of his own development was just genius. It really helped me understand other peoples theories too like freuds. These concepts are hard to understand for me but you made it real clear for me I appreciate it.
