This has always been one of my 2-3 favorite Wright houses. It's a real pleasure to see the house in the hands of people who are caring for it so well.

Hey really did like the "Cherokee Red". I now notice it in almost all of his houses.

I've seen a number of videos of FLW's houses and am, of course, impressed with all the great design decisions that he made and the beauty of the finished product. But I'm not sure that I'd want to live in one. They are like living on a boat - one has to leave most of one's possessions and personal items behind and assume the personality that FLW has assigned you. Like on a boat where everything is fixed in place, there is no opportunity for individuality. Fixed location of built-in sofas, tables, cabinets - no room for a table or chair that might be special to the owner. I'm expecting some hate mail responses to my criticism of the great FLW, but in my opinion, these houses are mostly incredibly beautiful art pieces that can be lived in if one is flexible enough to accept the inflexibility. A boat can travel and provide the opportunity for new adventures and scenery. The disadvantage of living on a boat that never moves is a certain stagnancy or sameness that seems confining, at least, it does to me.

For $18,000 a square foot a bit pricy for one person living.

22 million a bit much. But that is California. Hope they can pay the taxes to live there. I would choose Alaska.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful personal story of your family and the iconic walker house. I’ve admired this house for years even as a child walking on the beach below. I have heard that the house recently sold. I’m very surprised you would have sold the house.

This is absolutely wonderful, to see the craftsmanship. I think I would have really liked Della, a woman of fabulous taste and talent of her own. The very articulate chappie who explained so beautifully the design of the house. I'm so pleased it is still with the family and lovingly looked after. Thank you so very much. While I may not be able to visit in person I can get a very good idea of the space by the fantastic tour. Showing the people in the space shows how economical he was with the space. How wonderful it fits in the coastline. Thank you so very much. Best wishes to you and your family ❤🤗🐨🦘🐨

Your grandmother was a sophisticated, modern woman. What a wonderful presentation and ode to her. I have a Frank Loyd Wright house about a mile from my house. It is a park with scheduled showings. Both homes are beautiful in beautiful settings. Thank you for sharing.

A wonderful tour. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. FLW was a design genius and his homes are works of art. Personally, though, I think they would be rather claustrophobic to live in full time. However, a heavenly vacation home. You are blessed to have it in your family!

Wonderful tour and an amazing house. We live in a house in east Texas, in the oil rich pine tree forests, that is 112 years old. We are only the second family to own and live in this house. We have lived here for 35 years and reared our 6 daughters here, three of them from 5, 1 and one was actually conceived here and lived here until she graduated college and moved away. While I know quite a bit about the original owner, I do not know who designed it or who built it. I wish I did and have spent many hours trying to obtain that information. You are so lucky that your family put such a high personal value on what your great-grandmother loved and valued so you have it to enjoy today. I wish I knew as much about my own great-grandmothers lives. Congratulations!

For a different take on the comments below. These Frank Lloyd Wright homes like this one blended into their environments are like poetry to my eyes. I am very grateful to the people who show and display their insight into these homes.!

I had seen this house in one of my FLW books here in NZ. I could not believe my eyes / luck one day walking along the divine Carmel shore and seeing it on the rocks. Being a kiwi I hadn't noted it's location in the book. One of those serendipitous joyous moments. Thank you for showing me the interior with all of your family history and that you are all still so connected to the place with love.7

Beyond the fact that numerous homes designed by FLW had serious water infiltration problems, the aesthetics of FLW’s houses/buildings have always inspired me and satiated my visual appetite. This tour was wonderful! Always incredible to have family members who were so close to their relative(s) who once owned/commissioned these homes. Thank you!

Yeah, you could build a more reasonable fireplace that doesn’t spread ashes on the floor. But if your floor is smooth finished concrete, why not?? The drama of that tall fire would be well worth the occasional cleanup effort.

Fantastic house and the owner/presenter did a wonderful job. I just wish the film crew did as well. Wright houses flow but the filming used all cut jumps so that the audience does not get the sense of flow or movement.

For me my favorite will always probably remain Robie House since that was my first wide-eyed exposure (much magnified by the dumbfounding realization that it had to include stables as horses were the most common means of rapid transportation at the time) to his homes, but even I must admit that his later designs after his prairie-period-origins in domestic architecture are his most beautiful as they dispense almost entirely with any and all presumptions that come with typical home design. Thanks so much to Chuck for this exceptional tour of this house, and for that "... thanks, Frank" at 8:23, I laughed out loud 😁

Those sunken trash cans are ridiculous. Think of how heavy they are to have to bend over and lift up out of the ground. And the hole they are sunk into begins to stink because they can't be hosed out. Yet.... they will fill with rainwater. Low to the ground encourages rodents and bugs. They installed these entirety in the midcentury Roosevelt's Greendale, Wisconsin project. They've been removed. Dumbest idea ever. They never thought about they snowstorms burying them or icing them shut!
