This is not polymer clay. It looks to be a porcelain or very fine air dry clay as polymer clay does not behave like that. Especially regarding the hair and detail work. At no step was there heat setting or baking and those are mandatory for actual polymer clay. Things that would be necessary to keep the arms and hair strands from going limp due to gravity as pclay is much heavier than air dry clay. The biggest tell was at the start where the person just sprayed the chipboard backing with what looked to be water. Air dry/porcelain clay has water soluble binders that will adhere to paper fairly well where as polymer clay would need to be baked for the paper to not leech away the plasticizers in the clay and cause the background to just ...fall off the paper as there wouldn't be any mechanical hold. This piece is beautiful but it's just not polymer clay.

Your work is so brilliant, it just amazes me. I have never seen so much water on paper without the paper pilling. Would you share what paper you use? I am not a water colourist but you have inspired me to have another go instead of oil painting. I just love your work you have mastered this medium brilliantly. Thanks for sharing.
