This band changed my life ……. It was the gateway drug to mainstream jazz for me

So good to be reminded that Jan once played real keys/ synth, probing, investigating, pushing like Paul Bley at the same period. Sadly like many great pianists, he degenerated to playing the ironing board and bullshit followed.

Never listened to Mr. Dimeola even though I've been hearing about him my whole life. He is very clean and precise, and imo more interesting than Zappa, so far, only my 2nd song into his repertoire, 1st being Chasin' the Voodoo. I love a lot of Zappa's stuff but it does get boring. Peace!

Was at this show when Al came through Denver back in 78. Was blown away by the drummer, Chuck Burgi, who nailed all of of Lenny White's parts on this album as well as Steve Gadd's - an incredibly hard task. Turns out that Chuck here, is a native of New Jersey just like Al. As well, he has been Billy Joel's drummer since 2011. He just killed it at this show in Denver as well.

Jerry Goodman is my 1980s girlfriend Jenny's cousin. He hated me because I didn't know anything about Mahavishnu Orchestra... and because I was schtuping his cousin. Hi, Jerry. Jen and I both dug your album.
