David Reutimann stopped on the track because the car had to stay in the Top 35 in points so Danica did not have to qualify on speed. There was also no penalty for that probably because of Danica. You also forgot Kurt Busch at Fontana when he came back from Patricia Driscoll's allegations.

My favorite is Kevin Harvick straight up saying "fuck the GWC" when his engine was blowing up LONG after the race was supposed to be over at Talladega so he straight up wreck the field to end the race. Possibly cost Jr. a title...surprised NASCAR didnt can it right there
@corbinselanne7990Ай бұрын
Funny enough, Joey Logano (who NASCAR gave the win to for a sweep of the second round) called the aborted first try at the one GWC restart (which Harvick had nothing to do with) "Junior Rules".

The 2020 Coca Cola 600 should be here. Chase Elliott had a huge lead with just a lap and a half to go. Byron blew a tire and spun. Chase pitted and drove from 9th to 2nd in 2 laps but couldn't catch Keselowski.

It's crazy when you think about it. You have that incident, then later that year at the Southern 500 he looked to be driving to the lead in fresh tires, gets turned by Kyle Busch then immediately rain comes out. Move to 2021 Daytona 500, in the process of passing McDowell on the last lap, only for the caution to come out right before he completes the pass. In less than a year he got screwed out of 3 crown jewel races.
@gregrowe1168Ай бұрын
I hate the unlimited attempts. You could literally add an extra 20 laps to the race because of cautions caused by restarts. The overall length of the race is regards to time becomes a problem then. The network either has to not show the end of the race or cut out parts of the next program. If the drivers were all on their last set of new tires, they're going to be worn out by the time the last restart occurs.
@racingjunkie27Ай бұрын
Why does it seem like it's ALWAYS my favorite driver that gets screwed by overtime. Jeff Gordon, Kenseth, Truex Jr, Carl Edwards suffered plenty of late race dramas and got their assured win stolen away because of this BS rule. I hate overtime so much

Yet NASCAR wonders where us old school fans went. So tired of NASCAR "fixing" something that wasn't broken in the first place.
@MrJohansen29 күн бұрын
Ending races under yellow is extremely broken. That's a gimmick. You like short tracks so much, well guess what, they don't end races under yellow at short tracks. They run the advertised distance. Yellow flag laps do not count towards advertised distance. Nascar doing so is a dumb gimmick. "Advertised distance" means only counting green flag laps. Nascar has never done that.

2012 Martinsville is way, WAY too low. One of the biggest robberies in NASCAR history and all because of a shitbox car not getting off the track because Reutimann had to keep the car in the top 35 for Danica. Literal storybook circumstances for Hendrick’s 200th win ruined just like that. I’ll NEVER get over it.

I've done similar research. Here are some of my favorite "stolen" wins not mentioned in this video. 2005 Darlington. Ryan Newman would've won this race and added another Crown Jewel to go along to his 2008 Daytona 500 and 2013 Brickyard 400 wins. 2005 Talladega Fall. Matt Kenseth wins at the scheduled distance but I mention this one because Dale Jarrett's final win was via overtime. If not for this rule, his final win would've been the Spring Rockingham race in 2003 and gone the last 5 years without a win. Maybe he would've retired sooner. 2012 Atlanta. Martin Truex Jr would've ended a long winless drought here instead of Sonoma the following season and would've been a very popular win at the time. 2013 Richmond Spring. Juan Pablo Montoya would've won his 3rd Cup race and only won on an oval in what would be his final full-time season in NASCAR 2014 Talladega Fall. This would've been Ryan Newman's final win instead his overtime win in the 2017 Phoenix Spring race, which would've been ironic given his well-known dislike of superspeedways. 2015 Talladega Fall. We could've avoided the s*** show finish and unpopular Joey Logano win and instead had Greg Biffle winning his final Cup race on a ballsy fuel-mileage strategy. 2017 Daytona Summer. David Ragan wins this race, driving for Front Row, instead of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Another fun fact: Kyle Busch wouldn't hold the record of most consecutive seasons with a win (19 as of this post) and instead that record would belong to Denny Hamlin without overtime. Kyle's only win in 2014 was via overtime and Denny Hamlin gets the win that eluded him in 2018 by winning that year's Daytona 500. Denny would have at least 1 win in all of his 19 full-time Cup seasons.
@nathanmiddaugh698628 күн бұрын
Can’t blame Newman for his disdain of superspeedways given his first Daytona 500, 2020 Daytona 500, or the several races he wrecked in the last ten laps of the scheduled distance. The fact that 2009 Talladega was a good day at the track epitomised Newman at restrictor plates. Still ended up with Edwards in his face. Michael Waltrip was my first favourite driver. But Newman was my number one for the longest. And despite Waltrips plate success I hated them after Newman left Penske. Probably even before. To call 2008 a miracle is an understatement. To this day I still don’t look forward to plate tracks. “They can build safer race cars. They can build safer walls but they can’t get their heads out of their asses far enough to keep them on the race track… Y’all figure out who ‘they’ is.” Ryan Newman ‘Dega 2013
