Thank you so much! I agree about the masking fluid, plus I never like the marks it makes, no matter how selective I am when applying it.

Why is your a orange color and the one you coping is white? It looks like teeth to me.
@lorrainerimmelinwatercolor14 күн бұрын
Hi , Your comment made me smile...teeth lol The reference sample painting was started on white paper; therefore, the negative space is white. The demo painting was started on paper that had a light wash of orange; therefore, the negative space is orange. Great question, thanks, Lorraine

Hi Katie, it's a 6"x2.5" porcelain compartment tray used for dipping sauces for food. I bought it at a store in Chinatown NY years ago thinking it would be useful to hold a few colors while painting. Sometimes I find small interesting white square bowls in thrift stores.

I need to leave a message here for Brianna!!! She is so precious! She has got great potential to be a great instructor on KZfaq!!! How blessed you are to have such a wonderful child in your life!! She definitely gets her talents from you!! My mom started teaching me all different kinds of crafts at the age of 7 !! Our church and a diet club called T.O.P.S. Which she was often the leader of had bazaars ! I’m sure you heard of TOPS . It’s still around today. I’m so grateful that my mom got me started so young, like Brianna. The only thing I didn’t learn was drawing or painting which was actually my deepest desire! I’m finally ,at the age of 57 teaching myself watercolor! I’ve always used acrylic on rocks . I sold and gifted quite a bit. I’m learning that watercolor is so much more of a challenge than acrylics!! It is also so much more enjoyable and love the way the paints move with water!!! Water is the living organism in all of our watercolor paintings. God has truly blessed us!

Hi, I will share your kind words with her! She is now 13 and so busy between her friends, school, sports and being a teenager that I don't get to spend much time with her :( I know I was blessed to have her in the studio with me for many years. She also had the opportunity to sell her artwork at a fundraiser I chaired for 8 years. My event was an art show that raised money to help Hospice. She participated 3 years in a row and sold out her art every year. She had a great time, earned money and learned about the importance of donating to charity. Thanks for sharing you experiences with me. Keep painting & watching the paint flow! Lorraine

I must say that I’ve watched many negative painters and you are easy to follow!! Excellent teaching on negative painting! 👏👏👏👏 Do you do any watercolor pencil sanding in your paintings? I watched just about every video by Karlyn Holman. I hope you don’t mind me dropping her name in here. The reason I did was to see if you can teach a couple of her videos that consist on negative painting. I was devastated about a month ago when I found out that she passed away. I actually cried! My son said ,” mom you don’t even know her! “ well I happen to be a very sensitive and spiritual person who puts my feelings into my art. I had a business for a short while called “ full of grace designs” .I named it that because God is my creator and He is whom I rely on for all my gifts ! I pray before I begin anything. That includes baking! 😁😁 ! Anyways, I was hoping you could do a video consisting of negative , sanding over stencils, and decoupage in the watercolor painting. Please dont take this as a challenge take this as a compliment,meaning Karlyn was an amazing watercolor painter that included a lot of different mixed media ,but I found it difficult to follow her. I thought maybe you could respectfully teach one or more of her styles of paintings. I truly enjoy watching you and learning from you! BTW Karlyn Holman passed away in 2019 at the age of 79. She started teaching I believe in her 30’s . I pray I’m not out of line in my requests. God bless you and I hope you continue to bring us more of your beautiful paintings which are taught so well!!

At this time I don't have any plans to incorporate any of her techniques into my recordings but I appreciate your confidence in my ability to do so. I'm very curious as to how she paints. Thanks again, Lorraine

@lorrainerimmelinwatercolor4 ай бұрын
Hi Sarah, I'm so happy you enjoyed this video. Like most new ideas this started out as an experiment in making interesting marks with watercolor. Once I started blowing the paint with a straw I immediately saw the flower shapes appear. Because negative painting is ingrained in my brain it intrigued me more and more so I kept pushing this idea until I achieved the results I wanted. Thanks, I hope you try it and let me know how you did 😊 Lorraine
