Your Hokkien is different from that spoken in Singapore or Malaysia. Ah Yi is when the Aunt is your mother’s sister. Ah Ku is your mother’s brother. For the father’s side of the family, the father’s older brother is called Ah Peh, his younger brother is Ah Chek. Father’ sisters are called Ah Gao. A person may call his father Pa Pa. But speaking about his father we use the term Lao Peh. By the way the way the dialect Hokkien is Fujian in Mandarin & Fukien in Cantonese. The Hokkien people comes from Eh Mern or Xiamen in Mandarin. The anglicised name is Amoy . In south east Asia the common Chinese dialects are Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew, Hakka & Hiananese.
