I have a 2000 Jetta GLS VR6 (manual) (also says Bora not Jetta on the back; came like that from guy I purchased it from) It is my first car, I bought it back in 2011. I got a new car in 2015 and I just couldn’t get rid of my Jetta. It sat in my garage for about a decade and a couple months ago I decided to bring it back to life. It has 158,000 miles on it. It drives perfectly for now…. My hope is to now give it the love it deserves and someday in the near future start building it.

Very informative. I was smiling when you talked about the dual mass flywheel rattle. I just had that replaced with a single mass. I had sideways glances when I did since the car had 268k miles on it.

Here fuel is so pricy that a maximum distance is about 100 miles for cheap car you can pick up if you are not willing to pay 10 times the price of a car you pick for fuel!

Love this guys. buddy and I had 2 fairmonth wagons, one with a 200/SROD combo! first engine rebuild ever, it actually ran. why we didn't just 302 swap it I don't remember. high school days in the late 80's. anyway, one of them got a 351W/AOD combo, another boxtop got the 5.0/t-5 setup that was hilarious amounts of fun. looking forward to more.

I have a mk4 golf with the AXR 1.9 TDI. It's the 101hp version, and mine has only done a little over 220k kilometers. Planning on bolting on turbo and injectors from an ALR (150hp) which bolts right up to the AXR

That engine has ZERO crankcase ventilation, it'll probably blow out the front and rear main seals and leak oil profusely. And hurt the engine in the long run. You have EFI valve covers with a carb intake, neither of which have holes for PCV valves and breathers. BTW, that engine is from an SN95 Mustang, not a foxbody. You can tell by the accessory drive brackets.

oh no mr cooperider
@JamesCooperider
@JamesCooperider 21 күн бұрын
It actually does have a crank vent (albeit small) through the oil fill on the right-hand valve cover. I referred to it as an “87 5.0” but that was just for ease of explaining in the video - the long-block is out of a ‘94 F-150 with a H.O. camshaft & springs (‘87 Mustang) and the SN95 acc brackets specifically because I wanted a 3G alternator. We actually put the engine together in Ohio & run-tested it long before it went out to WA. I’m sure it could use more case ventilation but the entire bottom end was rebuilt so I’d imagine that’s how we got away with such a small breather. Honestly, it was & has been totally fine.
@Vaino_Hotti
@Vaino_Hotti 21 күн бұрын
@@JamesCooperider Ah, okay. Saying foxbody engine was a bit misleading, but I guess its easier to say a mismash of HO parts. And the port below the oil cap seemed plugged every time I saw it there :D A proper PCV valve and more generously sized breather would certainly be good, since now theres only a breather but no ventilation.

Id rather spend more money on gas than all those headache repairs and modifications on an old car. Having to do egr delete, swap out the cams or do a single mass flywheel on a vw isnt exactly easy compared to a Japanese car like a corolla or a civic that just keep running with basic maintenance.

Hi, I bought a 1980 rabbit pickup and I was doing some wiring work under the dash and now I don’t have any spark. I can’t figure out why, my plugs and coil are good so the problem probably is I messed up something under the dash or with the starter while putting it back together. I don’t really know what I’m doing so wondering if you could help.
