It’s more the sections what you called the six pack that can give a false reading. The underside of the carapace where you first checked is the last place the crab goes hard and therefore is the proper checkpoint. You can have a crab proper rock solid at all the sections near the abdominal flap but if you check the underside of the carapace like you do which is great good on you good stuff you may find it compresses a bit or a lot which obviously means you will not have a proper full crab. I was once told that checking the sections near the abdominal flap is an indicator for how much meat will be in the body and legs and checking the underside of the carapace is an indicator for how much meat will be in the arms, elbows, claws and overall and believe this to be true. In fewer words checking the underside of the carapace will determine how full your crab is a lot more than the six pack will and should always be checked. Some nice crabs there man well done and happy crabbing 👍🏽

@@adventuresinwonderland5592 i disagree completely mate have had rock solid under the carapace before and soft six pack and crab was not full.. the six pack is the true indicator if it is full or not… many pro crabbers will agree with me there!!

I think we got a little mixed up there haha I think you’re saying exactly what I said. When I say the underside of the carapace I mean the shell of the crab where you checked first. Never will the underside of the carapace be rock solid and the sections near the abdominal flap be soft, at least that’s what I have experienced so far but I’ll keep an eye on that. 👍🏽
