Me too. Same time as you. It has always brought tears to me eyes, espcially when I lost my partner of over 40 years last September.

Simply sublime music - thank you! On a recent choir residency in Hereford we sang Lloyd's Hereford Service for evensong and, to our surprise and delight, were sought out afterwards by Richard's widow, who thanked us for performing it. We often use it in Wells. I write as a member of the cathedral Chamber Choir.

Wearing masks was the only way we could keep singing during restrictions in the UK. We had no difficulty in breathing with them on.

Sure! "In the stillness of a church Where candles glow, In the softness of a fall Of fresh white snow, In the brightness of the stars That shine this night, In the calmness of a pool Of healing light, In the clearness of a choir That softly sings, In the oneness of a hush Of angels’ wings, In the mildness of a night By stable bare, In the quietness of a lull Near cradle fair, There’s a patience as we wait For a new morn, And the presence of a child Soon to be born."

That is one of the greatest and most beautiful part-songs ever written. John Ireland was a brilliant composer. Like many others of his generation he knew his stuff. He captures the James Kirkup poem perfectly. A really sensitive performance and thank you. Yrs, AK www.andrewkeeling.co.uk
