What a bowling action and with the back foot dragging Fred seemed to slide through the crease in perpetual motion. Unique.

My first day watching Test cricket at the ground was that Saturday at the Gabba. Thommo and Lillee blasting away, Tangles and Gilmore backing up, all against the reigning World No 1. Great way to start.

Extraordinary to see so many big name players in a non international match, you would never see anything like that today, they would consider it to be like a multi millionaire riding the bus

Good point. English cricket was blessed with such an abundance of star studded overseas talent earing a living in the county game. When they weren't playing for their country's, they were playing on the treadmill for their adopted county's.

History will mark this black day of Umpiring. There was absolute no standing for the decision by umpire other than trying to create new rules of the game just to make himself feel right.

Botham stuck to fingers at Miandad, this is exactly why it was a great pleasure when Waqar Younis ended Botham’s test match career later in the summer.

Pakistan biggest crime was they won World Cup 1992 beating England in the final at Melbourne. I still recall the whole English media, press and members of England cricket teams namely Ian Botham, Allan Lamb and Robin Smith were all against Pakistan even before a ball was bowled in both the ODI and Test series.

This was quite common back then, Pakistani tailenders would get bouncer barrages, and then umpire would step in when Pakistan did it back. Hence Miandad would get his bowlers to not stop doing it. Happened in New Zealand too.

The back foot no-ball rule helped him, as he was able to drag and then release the ball feet further up the pitch than is allowed these days with the front foot trule.

I well remember his 300th wicket. In the days when the BBC was interested in cricket as used to watch it on telly whilst my Dad was having his lunch break as a Postman. The only time the TV was on during the day in our house.

That was John Snow. He got the good batters out. The Aussies always said, that his quiet menace, really got under their skin. I think he'd get a game in most sides.

Wilf Paish, her coach, was not part of the UK Olympic officials group, and did not have a pss to go in the arena, He borrowed a pass from another coach. I know because Wilf was a friend mine and in the same class at college in the 1950s

Great privilege to be a Kent member from 1979 to 82 and saw the great man for those years with Alan knott behind the stumps. He was a genius, middle pace and could turn the ball a yard, an extraordinary talent.
