I know this is an older feed but my storage bin holder, the metal part it's self is dented and I was wondering if you had any problems with yours getting dented and any ideas regarding who to talk to about this. I hit something that dented both sides so my plastic containers don't fit flush any longer.
@Turbo_Snail

🤔 I would imagine a body shop could fix that. The metal is way too hard down there to apply any home remedies. Mine are not dented but I have seen some cars being lifted on the bin rather than the frame.

Out of curiosity how does silicone paste work for a loose sun visor that does not stay up wouldn't that make it even more floppy, I can understand the first one but the second one doesn't make sense to me ?
@Turbo_Snail
@Turbo_Snail 5 күн бұрын
That’s an excellent question. It’s too dry, tight, so it doesn’t let it snap in all the way at the end. What happens when you flip it up, it’s all plastic and it bends as it’s not “loose” enough. Instead of rotating, you’re actually bending the “stick”. Lubricating it, lets it reduce resistance, less flex and therefore it’ll reach that point where it needs to sit. It’s really hard for me to explain without any visual aid. It doesn’t always work. It’s really a bandaid because inevitably it’ll just fail. This usually gives it another 2, 3 or 4 years of operation before you have to ultimately replace it.

Jeep has gotten greedy lately. Apparently they bankrupted in china, can’t sell any cars any where else either. Seems they thought they were a premium brand with premium prices. Come to find out they forgot their place and got cocky. Now they are stuck with thousands of cars that are aging on dealers lots. Get ready to pick up a Jeep for cheap and use it for its intended purpose and not grocery store parking lots.

I haven't noticed any oil leaks on my 2015 Durango Limited, but I have noticed over the last few months the oil temp is running about 30 degrees hotter than it used to. Used to run consistently from 180-195 degrees. Never went above 199, even in summer. Now I'm seeing regular temps in the 220-224 degree range. Water and trans temps are normal. 150k and no towing or hard driving... and it's not even very hot yet (I live in south Texas). Haven't changed anything... just regular oil changes as always. Was wondering if the increased temps could be related to some sort of failure with this oil cooler? Has anyone else noticed higher oil temps on their 3.6?
@Turbo_Snail
@Turbo_Snail 15 күн бұрын
Hm. Better ask over on Facebook at PentastarV6Performance. You getting the oil changed at a shop? Did they actually use the correct oil or what you asked for? That doesn’t sound like an oil cooler failure to me. Hot oil means there is more friction where you don’t want it. Water can only cool so much. I doubt it’s a sensor failure either.

Also, watch those release levers on the stands. If you are under the car and one of the levers gets touched accidently, that corner of the car is coming straight down. The design of these don't usually have a safety pin, which isn't great.
@Turbo_Snail
@Turbo_Snail 16 күн бұрын
Actually when there is weight on it, it requires a lot of force to lift those levers. Almost impossible to do it. These are not like your grandfather stands that require a safety pin. If they are old, I would change them for new, non harbor freight ones.
@thepub245
@thepub245 16 күн бұрын
Its very risky to lift one corner of a car placing it on a jack stand (axle stand, if British or Irish), then lifting the other side to do the same.The weight can shift unexpectedly, causing a topple, especially if using one of those axle stand rubber toppers, which can slip or move under load. Always better to raise the car in the middle, under the engine, if you can, then carefully lower it onto the stands.
@Turbo_Snail
@Turbo_Snail 16 күн бұрын
Even with my extra long low profile jack, I can’t reach under the engine on my car. Also there is no safe jacking point in the middle of the car. Every car has markings where to apply the jacks safely. Also it’s usually illustrated in the user manual. There are tons of TikTok’s where people break their car jacking it up in the wrong spot. I for one, have never seen a professional jack up a car on the side/middle. Most cars are usually front heavy and would pivot forward if you attempted to do that. Be safe out there.

Is there a bulb for the headlight? Ive heard conflicting comments (not here) saying you have to replace the entire thing if a headlight burns out.

I don’t have that car anymore but I remember when I pulled out the unit, I was surprised that everything was sealed in. Now, my Chrysler 200 which is essentially the same car, has an access panel through the wheel well to change the bulb. The Cherokee was a bit newer than my 200. So maybe somewhere between 2016 and 2021 they may have decided that we could somehow afford a $1600 headlight assembly when the lightbulb burns out.

I have another question for you and thanks again for answering my last one. Beneath the lower intake it was pretty dirty and i cleaned up those chambers with carb cleaner since you said i should be OK to do. Well in those chambers i believe I see valves in there. But im not really sure if thats what they are that just what i think they are. There is 2 per chamber which make 12 total since there's 6 chambers. They look like a skinny rod and the bottom sort of cones out to what a think is a flat disc shape underneath where i cant see and somewhere around the bottom there i would assume is a seal, idk. Anyways, all of them were in like a closed position except one on the back left side. And i could see down inside of somewhere im not sure. I couldn't really see because its to dark in there but it has me a little worried. One, should it be all open like that where i can see inside it and two i didnt realize it was open until after i had sprayed carb cleaner in all the chambers and wiped all the gunked up carbon out of there. So how bad is it that carb cleaner and old carbon gunk and whatever else, got in there. And if i change the oil and flush it out with a quart or two will that clean it out and should i pour oil down that chamber where the hole is by the valve to try to flush out whatever may of gotten down there. Sorry for the long comment and thanks for your help
@Turbo_Snail
@Turbo_Snail 20 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t pour anything down there. Those are your valves. You see 2, there are 2 more on the other side. Just fill good gas and use fuel injector cleaner regularly. It’ll clean up in a few thousand miles. Look at my videos, you see mine were dirty too when I ran regular discount gas. Because I run e85 they are probably cleaner. All I can recommend is use quality fuel from a reputable gas station and not a discount station.

@Turbo_Snail 25 күн бұрын
You can do that, or if your car has a yellow gas cap just run some e85 through your tank. Give it about 5-10 tank fulls and that’ll be squeaky clean. Carbon buildup is from cheap gas. Meaning not 87 or 93 octane but shell vs a cheapo no name brand. Go with a brand name. They ad more detergents to the fuel to keep things cleaner.

Several videos.... However they have various sequence of events, some of which are perhaps not "best practice"... Ideal #1 Spray the bracket nut and battery terminals with "Easing Fluid of you Choice".... #2. Remove the small electrical plug/socket on the Negative/Chassis Ground, while its "mate" is still attached and firm. #3 Remove the bolt holding the Negative/Chassis Ground cable to the bracket attached to the battery NEG post. Move the cables away from the battery and hold them clear with string/rope/clip (whatever)..... #4 Remove the bolt holding Positive/Red cable to the bracket attached to the POS battery post. Move the cable away from the battery and hold clear as per what was done with the Negative cable. #5... Another spray of "Easing Fluid of you Choice" to the nut at the top of the rod on the "hold down bracket"... Try to undo the nut, if it moves at all, then reverse direction (tighten) slightly and respray, then try and undo again.. It can be reached from above with a long extension bar. Try forward and back and spray to ease the nut off... Note 1:: If the battery terminal bolts are tight it's easier to work them loose without the battery dancing around. Note 2:: With the battery disconnected and the cables out of the way there is far less chance of the long extension bar causing a short between vehicle body and POS battery terminal. Note 3:: With the cables secured out of the way it is easier to "jiggle/juggle" the battery out. Clean it all up. Run the nuts on the various bolts, wire brush and lubricant.... And: If you are reading this then you are a DIY mechanic... Another 10-15 + minutes is not the end of the world...

I'm actually enjoying my new (to me) Opel Insignia / Regal TourX partly because despite its AWD & later model design, it's significantly simpler in many design aspects, while sporting a German vibe & handling.

@psalm2forliberty577 It’s like getting that iPhone 28 tech today, but it’s been used for 14 years. Shit gonna go wrong.

Hello thanks 🙏 for the video help. On the lower carbon air filters, do you recall which orientation the rounded & square fits ? I stupidly tossed the old ones, forgot how they went in & the new ones, WIX #24778, are exact size but have foam edges for uber tight fit. So now head scratcher on which one fits in which cavity & which angle goes fore or aft. Thanks for any input ! PS: 24 year old e320 Wagon & carbon ones were original. Ive owned car 10 years & didn't realize they were there til just recently. I did swap main cabin filters behind glovebox 8 years back.

I remember they had a shape that made them fit only one way. Yes it was tight. Had to squeeze them in. I don’t think you can place them in the wrong way really. Yeah, ours had same carbon filter since it was bought. No service ever done on that. Great car. Love those wagons. Just maintain it and it’ll last you a long time. I’m looking at a 300CE tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!

Great quick reply thanks Brother. I did finally figure it out: The larger squarer one, closest to console (L side). The smaller rounded corner one to its Right. Face removal tabs downwards. On my WIX #24778, the airflow arrows faced wrong direction but ya got no choice as plastic frames fit only 1 way. Yes your sedan is / was quite beautiful. Still have it ? Miles are ? Yes we love this w210 wagon it's got 266k miles at 24 years old very solid still. I do have a newer 2018 Buick Regal TourX / aka Opel Insignia Wagon - made in Germany no less it's AWD and a worthy successor to the e320 Wagon. Have you seen a TourX in your area ? Thanks - David in Texas I'll sub you - show your 300CE if you buy it. Turbodiesel Coupe ?

No. Ours drowned during the last hurricane. Wasn’t worth rebuilding. Too many electronics gone bad. And I just got a $260 battery before that. I’ve seen the Buick station wagons around here. They look really cool. The problem our laws don’t really allow for wagons. SUVs are exempt from all the regulations that apply to cars and sports cars. So nothing new really going to come here. But that’s okay no really don’t like new cars right now. Nothing good out there. Best bet is to get something a bit older, bring it back to life. Im so sick of all those non button buttons, those LCD screens, and don’t get me started on that start stop garbage. A good old car will do and if you get/have an older German car, it’ll be about as save as anything new out there. That being said, I’m building a Miata with my daughter right now. Just dropped in a new engine, gotta get it probably out again :/ Good luck with your wagon. Great choice.

@@Turbo_Snail Very cool but bummer about your drowned w210 ! Hurricane are you in Florida or Caribbean islands ? What laws prevent wagon ownership ? I'm WITH YOU on being against "OverTech" junk - probably this '18 TourX violates it too - but I inherited it & have been testing it since October - I can turn most all the Tech off if I want too. Adaptive cruise is cool as it keeps safe distance. I've been spoiled by the MB road manners & handling, and the TourX has a very Toutonic feel - Id say handles equal to the MB but better due to 76k miles so 200,000 less. It's GM 2.0 LTG Turbo 4 is a remarkable 295 HP engine too, extremely powerful yet frugal on gas 26 city 32 Hwy, in a spacious long 4,000# wagon.

I’m in Florida. Wagons go by the same way sedans and sports cars are tested for fuel mileage. Pickup trucks and SUVs are except from that. That’s why you see so many SUVs in the road in the US and barely any in Europe or really anywhere else in the world. My wife’s SUV is cheaper to insure and I pay less for my registration every year compared to my Chrysler 200. It’s insane. We should be paying less because lighter cars damage less roads and use less fuel. But…..

It came as a complete piece. No need to swap bulbs. If I remember right, I don’t even think you can replace the bulbs. You gotta get a whole piece. I may be wrong.
