I think the ops and opening at towers instantly makes thorpe better. At thorpe you have more time, its generally quieter and you dont have to worry about rides going doing mid queue, and if they go down as you walk over its whatever. Alton towers im always worrying if rides will go down (apart from nemesis) and even if you walk to a ride and it breaks, you waste so much time just by walking. In almoat every other aspect alton is better, but if i cant enjoy the rides without them going down then theres not much point. But Towers at its best imo is better than thorpe at its best but thorpe is so much better currently

I 100% agree! If Alton Towers was running at its best with brilliant ride availability, operations and closing times, it would easily be better than Thorpe. It’s just going through a rough period at the moment. If the Skyride was open that would help too, as walking wouldn’t be so much of a concern.

Thorpe Park has been fantastic in the 2024 season. Hyperia is just incredible!
@MrGamerDoesVids

This year was my first time at Thorpe Park and it was very good, but I still prefer Alton Towers. I agree, Thorpe has more thrilling coasters overall, but its main selling point is thrills and not much else. Alton Towers has much more variety, with a large area for kids under 6 (CBeebies land), 3 areas for kids aged 6 to 10 (mutiny bay, Katanga canyon and David Walliams world) and 4 areas for 11 and up (x sector, dark forest, gloomy wood and forbidden valley). Also, Alton Towers feels a lot more magical than Thorpe Park because of the height restriction. Thorpe Park is very out in the open, especially with Stealth and Hyperia. Alton Towers really feels like a resort and it feels like more like a floating island as some 2010s maps depicted it, while Thorpe is on a small island with some buildings and land surrounding it. I’d say that the mystery of Alton Towers makes it more exciting to ride new rides because you don’t know what you’re going to get with them, but with Thorpe the rides are basically all above ground and most of the time (apart from Saw’s start and Walking Dead The Ride) they’re out in the open, which takes away the surprise of the rides. Also, considering the events, Alton are stepping up a notch this year with them remaking the inside of the dungeons for Scarefest, and Hex is probably opening for Scarefest with some new effects too. Also the events, too, have more for kids at Alton. Especially Trick Or Treat Town, which Thorpe has nothing like at Fright Nights. And I’m pretty sure Thorpe Park has nothing at all in terms of winter events, where at Alton they have some of the park and all the hotels, golf and the waterpark open for winter, as well as Christmas decorations. And talking about the Waterpark, the Alton Towers one is on a much better level than Thorpe, where there’s just a beach and one racing water slide. And it’s inside the park and out in the open too, so if it’s raining (which isn’t too rare in Britain) you won’t be able to go to the water park and enjoy it as much as you can at Alton, where for most of the water park they cover the top of it with a dome. Sorry for the size of this comment, by the way. I think I know too much about the theme parks
@MrGamerDoesVids
@MrGamerDoesVids 5 күн бұрын
But Alton does need to improve on flat rides, which hopefully will be their focus next year. At least we’re getting Project Ocean this year (hopefully this year). And they need to improve on ride availability especially with the main thrill rides. I also think they could do with a water coaster in Mutiny Bay or even a motorbike or winged coaster in Katanga canyon themed to birds and eagles that could introduce kids to inversions like the Sky Lion coaster in Germany’s LegoLand. Maybe Project Horizon can be something like that, and the area could improve the flat ride problem
@ThrillsandForces
@ThrillsandForces 5 күн бұрын
I can totally agree with your point about Alton Towers feeling more magical. I remember when visiting for the first time how much of an adventure it felt walking to the different coasters and exploring the themed areas. As you said, Thorpe is too open to create the same feeling. As you drive into the car park, you can practically already see all of the coasters! Alton Towers does have a better range of events for kids, and a Christmas event is something that Thorpe Park is missing, though as the park is catering for teens and young adults it is less necessary. The water park at Alton Towers is miles better than the beach at Thorpe Park. I didn't compare them in the video because the splash landings water park feels like a completely different attraction to the beach at Thorpe.
@ThrillsandForces
@ThrillsandForces 5 күн бұрын
Project Ocean is definitely a step in the right direction! Hopefully it is the start of more thrilling flat rides at the park. Fingers crossed ride availability improves! It's such a shame when multiple of the major coasters are down at the same time. A motorbike in Katanga canyon would be awesome! It could really work well with the landscaping of the area.

I think Thorpe Park is much better for numerous reasons: 1) The size of the park Thorpe Park is much more convenient and much easier to traverse. Sure Alton Towers has a good decoration, but 99% of us came for the rides, not the towers or the lake 2) The variety of rides Thorpe Park has many more flat rides and water rides than Alton Towers. It's good to have a variety of rides and riding Samurai or Detonator never gets boring 3) The rides itself No doubt, the rides at Thorpe Park are more thrilling 4) The roughness of the rides Alton Towers has many more rough rides than Thorpe Park. I got headaches after riding Rita and the Smiler just made it worse. Yes there is Colossus and Saw, but there is just no rides that give a completely smooth experience at Alton Towers 5) Other Tiny Things The 20 min walk to the car park, no queue time displays, lack of chain restaurants (Thorpe Park has them all) I'm not biased, I've visited both them parks and I'm judging off my personal experience so don't be frustrated if you prefer Alton Towers (it's still good, but can't beat Thorpe)

Thorpe Park actually has chain restaurants such as KFC while having other food stalls while Alton Towers doesn't have any chain restaurants so you have to blow £15 at an overpriced stall or eat in the pizza and pasta buffet (which is also overpriced because there is no way you can eat more than a plate of pasta or half a pizza).
