No. Perth Mint coins have always looked cheap. RAM coins are the real deal and look the business. There is no way anyone will tell you a different opinion unless they are technically blind.

@@DantheCollectingMan Honestly? Perth Mint coins are just gawdy cheap looking and awful. This video shows how lousy this Mint's standard is. I haven't seen a single Perth Mint proof coin that is even a 1/10th the visual quality of any RAM proof coin. All Perth Mint coins display all animals as cartoonish compared to the literal anatomical RAM interpretations. You cannot be serious????

The gilding is beautiful, but to be honest I don't like the stance of the Kangaroo - I have seen more animated, more realistic examples on their other coins. I am not really a fan of gilding, but technologically PM have definitely got it nailed. Thanks for showing. 👍

Great stuff. I think the coronation coins for sure will see their worth soar in time to come. I was lucky to get a Struck-on-the-Day British coronation sovereign. I'd also written to The King and congratulated him for the coronation and I got a card back, so it now accompanies the SOTD sov. I was lucky and had a SOTD sovereign for the Platinum Jubilee and also received a thank you card back from our late Queen Elizabeth in reply to a letter I wrote congratulating her for the jubilee, which also accompanies that sov. I've been in the air whether to get these ones graded. The only two graded coins I have are two Canadian silver maples; the 1998 and 2012 Titanic privy maples. Both are SP69.

I don't mind the overall design idea and it's minted beautifully, but I find the art style the design is presented in, not to my taste, at all, especially the male figure. Therefore, I didn't buy any of them, when I was going to get everything from the two-sov down. Well we didn't even know they'd be doing a two-sov, but if they'd done a design I liked, I was up for it, no matter the cost. I also think that given the price of proofs these days, that the presentation case, needs to be kicked up a notch. The Royal Mint can't be beaten in this sense, the polished wooden case, looks truly special. Anyway, a few years out, if I change my mind, I'm sure i'll be able to pick one up closer to spot, just to fill holes in an Australia sov collection or something.
@dleetr4 күн бұрын
Oh and it was a missed opportunity that there was no BU Sov, even with GST added. It might have ignited a debate that would have gotten some political traction, to include non-999 bullion coins in the tax free designation as investment gold. Not that I would have bought one, because of the aforementioned reason about the art style.

very nice. Another question If you don't mind answering. I see the royal Australian mint is having a ballot on some premium roles, are they just loose from not being in a set or something else just due to the low mintage. Or possibly just trying to fish people in before a release. Thanks. enjoy your insight and vids keep them coming. Jason.

I have secured one though I am still in limbo whether it is a hit or miss from the Perth Mint. 3:53 I'm not sure why you mention the 1988 20 cent. It was never a circulating coin, and was available in mint packs only. According to Rennicks 32, the years 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993 were also only available in mint packs, and many of those years had far lower mintage numbers (1990 was 106228, 1993 was only 86068, for example). Am I missing something? By the way, the exact mintage for the 1988 20 cent was 250,000 (Rennicks 32 Page 160).
