Will water not pool under the floor boards?
@wadeanddani7 күн бұрын
I feel it would need to be a lot of water for that to happen and if that’s the case that wouldn’t be the only problem
@vickimathews19707 күн бұрын
Get the ceramic tinting done, that's the best tint you can possibly get, same as what they use on Ferrari's etc.

I'm thinking about doing this to afford a living. $64k AUD? I wonder how much it would be USD.
@wadeanddani13 күн бұрын
It would be somewhere in the range of $40,000 usd. In saying that, I have no idea how the American van market is
@Adralba00714 күн бұрын
Wat you’re doing is reducing the standing wave reflections inside the van which you referred to as echo but the test is somewhat flawed because you need to measure the attenuation from an external sound source with a known reference to obtain a meaningful result
@wadeanddani13 күн бұрын
Interesting, it was more just out of curiosity for us. We had the tool, we could hear a difference. It’s not s video that goes into the depth of it
@martynholder197115 күн бұрын
why did you fit the skylight that way around all motor homes and caravans have them the other way around so when driving the wind will close the roof light rather than blow it open and off?
@wadeanddani15 күн бұрын
Yeah we know, our reason is because we will have a decking system on the roof and would like to access it from the bed and through the skylight.
@martynholder197112 күн бұрын
that sounds like a good plan thank you for all your videos please remember to close the vent securely

We've watched you through all your wonderful travels and now we are looking at doing up our own sprinter to do some traveling of our own. Really great watching your new build we are learning so much. Love your layout especially the shower up the front. Have you thought about an electric bed ?
@wadeanddani16 күн бұрын
Thanks soo much 😃 yeah it crossed our mind. It’s a great idea but we wanted some storage under the bed area and also the skylight, it would be blocked during the day. Building a van has so many compromises

Are you just using the car builders layers as insulation? Did you use any foilboard on your last build?
@wadeanddani16 күн бұрын
Yes! Just car builders, but the 3 stage system with sound deadening, van liner and van seal. We used foilboard in our previous build so it will be interesting to see the difference, if any
@allegrosotto212616 күн бұрын
Perhaps an added benefit of the skylight will be to help cool the van in the evening after a hot day?
@wadeanddani16 күн бұрын
Absolutely!! The skylight has different opening stages so it can be fully open, or partially open. As well as fully closed obviously 😂

I am thinking about doing a van.... as this is a van from lessons learnt, may I ask what your budget for the fit out is.?
@wadeanddani16 күн бұрын
Our budget for this van is looking around 25-30k aud. We are doing a few things different on this van and we think it will cost a little more than the last one. Also that obviously doesn’t include our labour cost.
@marniejohnson67216 күн бұрын
Tks.. yes I had a guess of 40.-45 k with outsourcing some of the labour cost.. went to Brisbane caravan show a couple of weeks ago... there was not much to see there custom wise.
@wadeanddani15 күн бұрын
@@marniejohnson672 I could be wrong, but I thought I had seen fully custom LWB van costing in the range of 60k-90k, it seems to depend on what materials and products are used. If you get a quote in the future, i would love to know what a large van with all the bells and whistles cost

$600+ worth just on sound deadener holy crap. No need for that much especially with the foam. Good video though. Carbuilders is overrated, expensive and under tested, Earthwool Spaceblanket 55mm from bunnings is perfect for van walls and is made for metal and actually has a R-value. Also will keep warmer in winter and has a foil barrier. Don't fall for the marketing.

Even in a house with an overhead fan the cooking smells take a long time to dissipate, hence cook with a view so if you have the door/window open, more chance of airing out the cooking smells and then you can keep your water in your sink warmer in the winter when it's not near the doorway...lol...
@wadeanddani23 күн бұрын
Oh this is a good thought. We cooked near the door in our last van and didn’t have issues with food smells and this could had been the reason. We are leaning towards cooktop near the door
