I bought a used 20L for $400 US. 10 years old, looks brand new. It forces the water through the grain instead of hoping gravity will do the job. I would not be able to afford a brand new one.

@@robbby4011 I know, I worked on a 1000 liters long time ago. Cool equipement, and the ratio price/liters is ok for the 500 and 1000 L.

I love the feature where you can add your milled malt the night before, program in the water to automatically add, program your mash schedule (including time-consuming step mash temperature routines) and be done with mashing when you arrive in the morning. Huge time saver. Super compact brewery, with the correct amount of automation, that is absolutely the easiest to use.

How do you calculate ABV in flash brewing?
@MoreBeer_
@MoreBeer_ 4 күн бұрын
The ABV is pre- calculated for you as long as you add all the Flash Malt, fill with water to five gallons, and ferment to completion. However, if you would like to take your own reading pre and post ferment with a hydrometer, you certainly can.
@kennykistler6735
@kennykistler6735 4 күн бұрын
@MoreBeer_ Thanks for the response. There's no estimated ABV on my Fresh Pressed IPA flash kit sheet. Also, I didn't want to take an OG reading when I made it, because it was all unmixed slop. I didn't think I'd get a useful reading.

Excellent Video! Got out of brewing and sold all my stuff a year ago because of lack of time and space. This kit has a small foot print and certainly is a time saver. Could you buy extra hops and do dry hopping after fermentation , maybe using magnets and bags?

So, this will prob sound stupid, BUTTTTTT….. this looks perfect for me as a beginner… my idea was that me and my friends, we go out, usually a local brewery. We grab a few beers, get a burger at the food truck, and it’s great. We sit, chat, hang out. But damn, it’s getting expensive, AND…. like all we do is literally, go, buy a beer, eat a burger, TALK, and then go home. The social,part is us all hanging and talking…. I’m fortunate that I have great neighbors and friends, so I told my wife, let’s brew beer, grab some cheap Costco hotdogs, and burgers, we have a great backyard… string lights and all… I have a big projector outside (thank you presentation projector from work)… I’ll brew a bunch, we have a grill… let’s have people come, get a beer, have a dog/burger, sit and talk, and then they can go the Fu#@ home… much cheaper, and kinda fun. I was thinking I’d make an open Google calendar, and put the dates and what beer I have available - and I’d send the calendar out to friends and neighbors and say “I’m cooking and KC chiefs Vs Eagles on Sunday 14th, at 1p. Big screen up - America Larger available. Stop by for as long/short as you want, beer and a burger on me… And then see if we can create like a neighborhood “network” of places to go… one of my friends has a Trager Smoker and LOVES to smoke meats… how about smoked chicken and an IPA and corn hole next Saturday from 5p till 10p at his house? Extract brewing seemed like the place for me to start, but shit, this might just be my “entry point” to see if I can get this shit off the ground….

It's funny you say grain prices have gone up... because the farmer's aren't seeing it (there was a 6-8 month jump on wheat when Ukraine wasn't able to harvest their wheat, but it's since gone way down) . Price of Corn today (18JUL24): $3.91/Bu (avg 56lbs), Wheat: $6.61/bu (avg 60lbs), Rye: $6.90 (that's a March number I found quickly) (56 LBS avg), Oats: $3.19/bu (32lbs avg), non-malting barley: 3.90/bu and malting Barley: $5.79/bu (avg 48 lbs). Hops have generally decreased in prices (from where they were around 2010), since the big growers in WA overplanted, expecting perpetual growth in demand (which was unrealistic). on site sales for "breweries" (where beer makes up the majority of tickets) has dropped since before COVID, but the beer sales for "Brewpubs" (beer is maybe 50% of tickets) has remained similar to before. What's happened is that the "novelty" of a smaller brewer being in town has worn off, and people aren't willing to go to a place and pay $8/glass (just look at the economy) prices at a place that only has beer. They want entertainment, good food, NA options, Wine and spirits.

So what keeps this process safe from contaminits that may be in the water?

Flash yeast starts fermenting very fast and lowers the pH below a point at which bacteria can replicate.
@lesm3652
@lesm3652 8 күн бұрын
Yeah 10 minutes to get beer I'd definitely say that yeast works fast or us it ready to ferment in 10 minutes cause that sounds more honest what a sales pitch though if I was gullible enough to believe it be done in that amount of time those new to brewing might fall for it though

What is "hopbite" ?
@MoreBeer_
@MoreBeer_ 4 күн бұрын
HopBite shots are a specially processed hop oil that provides bitterness with no need to boil. HopBites do not impart hop flavor. Impervious to light, using HopBite allows you to ferment in clear containers and package in clear bottles.

i think you have something here! I'm an experienced brewer but could see using these for the time savings. But what is the yeast strain? I may prefer some of my preferred yeasts, heh of course I would. But what would you say the profile is most similar to? Chico? Voss? Weihnstephaner? I think I'll do one of these as a ferment and serve from the same keg kind of process.
@MoreBeer_
@MoreBeer_ 4 күн бұрын
Flash Yeast is key to the success of Flash Brewing because it starts fast and greatly reduces any risk of bacterial contamination. We don’t recommend subbing out different yeast. The flavor profile is very neutral, more similar to Chico.

Are you guys thinking about fresh wort kits??
@MoreBeer_
@MoreBeer_ 4 күн бұрын
Fresh wort kits were an inspiration for Flash Brewing Kits! Over a 5 year journey, we sourced, produced, and tested the ingredients that would allow us to replicate Fresh Wort kits without the water, and risks of shipping gallons of liquid across the country.

I think you’ve really got something here. I’d love to try the results but I bet it’s pretty dang good. I’ve been all grain brewing for years and never bought a kit from more beer cuz I like getting into the all the details… but sometimes the time and effort it takes to brew is a burden. So I could see getting into this. My approach would be ferment and serve in a keg with a floating dip tube, spund, gelatin to clear. That’s pretty dam easy for fresh beer and I bet the results are pretty dam good.
