Im a 20 year old beatle fanatic, who especially loves McCartney's contributions and solo career. I love seeing people of the younger generations appreciate this type of music. Most people of our generation dismiss the artists of the 60s/70s and say that its outdated and old, but I feel that music from this era carries much more heart and soul than most of what has come out in the last 20+ years. I love seeing people like you react to some of the best compositions ever written

Crystal, are you familiar with ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)? Have you ever thought about doing one of their album reviews. They had many hits songs from 1975-1983 on The U.S. Billboard Charts. They cite The Beatles as one of their Major influences.

Venus and Mars Reprise----A lot of the magic in this song comes from those six repeating piano notes that Linda plays on the piano. I like it when Paul thinks big like this and tries something bold and new.

Listen to what **Crystal** said about "Listen to what the man said"! And the other songs that, like Venus and Mars, orbit this stellar album. "Music of the Sphere," indeed. Thanks for training your telescope on it and reporting back what you saw (and heard). In my macho high school days, my hard rockin' friends and I loved The Beatles, but sort of scoffed at Paul's more "syrupy" stuff, like "Silly Love Songs" (actual title). 35 years later, it's on my playlists, lol!

Great to see Venus & Mars getting some love. It kind of got buried under the birth of punk in the UK & if it came out a year earlier it may have been a legendary McCartney/Wings album by now. In the light of long distance hindsight it really is a bit of a hidden gem, isn't it?

In addition to what you said about Venus and mars , Paul and Wings opened their concerts with those 2 songs. I expect they were written as concert opening songs. Paul sure got it right!

Call Me Back Again is one phenomenally vocal performance. I was a child, and my dad played this album in the car. Now I am 55 and it is my favourite McCartney album. It deserves a better ranking as I even think it is better than Band on the Run. McCartney's hugely successful World Tour in 75 was mainly comprised on songs from this album. Listen to What the Man Siad I always describe as a slice of pure pop perfection with the brilliant sax solo by Tom Scott. Imagine if a song like this entered the charts today. Such a hypothesis shows just how bad popular music has become. I also think Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People is a beautiful reflective ballad. My brother once, when he was an arrogant teen, called it music for old people.' My response is the same; why can't there be music for old people too and anyway it is about the loneliness and sadness of nearing one's end and the image set of waiting sitting alone in a home 'Here we sit, two lonely old people Eking our lives away...' are very poignant lyrics. Most songs today revolve around the ego or victimhood mentality of th lead singer. Here is a song for the elderly in the hardest stage of their life. Paul McCartney was a caring individual. I'll have to check your other videos. I became a McCartney freak when I was about 20 and now own over 200 albums by him. Not that I am one of those sycophantic fans (they drive me crazy) and can admit he wrote some dire crap but no other pop/rock artist imo will ever top the genius that is melodic Paul McCartney. He can write and perform in any genre and has written more amazing songs than any other artist either alive or now departed. Just for the sake of it I’ll name two rather hidden deep McCartney tracks worth listening to on KZfaq. The first is called ‘Why So Blue’ and the other ‘In the Blink of an Eye.’ Thank you for your superb video and appreciation of McCartney and this album in particular.

@@CrystalShannon4 - Crystal... he is talking about John Lennon. Yoko had thrown John out and they were separated for 18 months. John was living with May Pang in Las Angeles during this period and she says that John had decoded to go to New Orleans and work with Paul again (while Wings was recording this album). Interestingly, Paul helped John & Yoko get back together - and when John eventually went back to her in NY... Yoko immediately put a stop to the idea of John working with Paul again.

It has been said that in the song, Remember how Paul helped reunite the Lennons? Listen to the words of the reprise. People have speculated that Venus is Yoko Ono and Mars is John Lennon. They were deep into astrology. “A good friend of mine studies the stars, Venus and Mars are alright tonight”

This was the album where Paul wanted Wings to feel like more than just his backing band. Denny Laine and Jimmy McCulloch each getting at least one of their songs on the album. Both of the two songs of McCulloch’s, Medicine Jar on this one and Wino Junko on “Speed of Sound” dealt with substance abuse which led to his death at age 26.

Hi Crystal 😊🔮 A supremely other worldly reaction to Paul McCartney and Wings' Venus and Mars 😊👍 My favorite on side 2 would be Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People because of Paul's sentiment between treating his wife Linda gently and the prospect of them growing old together and I like your perspective on that song as well. Listening to your reaction is like taking a Master class in musicality, theory, symphonic interpretation... Always quite an experience and I would gladly sign up for your class. As fellow KZfaqrs mentioned, Lead guitarist Jimmy McCullough provides the lead vocal on Medicine Jar and gives that rock distortion and dissidents feel to that song and did die sadly at the young age of 26... such a promising talent. And, Denny Laine providing lead vocals on Spirits of Ancient Egypt. Once again Paul McCartney delves into different genres to keep us interested in the songs on the album. Another masterpiece from Sir Paul McCartney. You may be sad when we come to the end of a side last song but for us it is sad that our time together with you has come to an end. For you are such a delight and a treasure and someone we look forward to when you have your reactions. Your ending songs are so precious and such wonderful pieces straight from your heart and we accept each and every one of them gratefully. Yes, it is summer time, a fun time, the glorious time of the year, especially when I was in school... I never wanted summer to end. To you dear Crystal, all the smiles, all the caring, all the comfort, all the peace, all the joy, all the happiness, all the love to come your way and lighten your day and as always take it easy 😊👍🔮

Good day sunshine, Crystal! How are you? I hope you are well. First, I wanted to say my Dad is scheduled to have surgery next week to remove a tumor. Thankful the prognosis is excellent and it is not considered to be life-threatening. Second, it’s so great to see you again. On to the music discussion! “Call Me Back Again”-I know I’m going to sound like one of those crazy Beatles fans who takes lyrics too seriously, but I always believed this song was about his former bandmates maybe even John. One of Paul’s best vocals and an underrated song. “Listen To What The Man Said”-the most obvious choice for a single. It is so catchy and commercial, but so damn good. Great hook. Great sax solo by Tom Scott. Love it. I agree with you about the otherworldly sounds on the reprise of “Venus and Mars” and “Spirits Of Ancient Egypt”. Nice to see Denny Laine get a lead vocal on the latter. “Medicine Jar” is a great rocker sung by Jimmy McCulloch. Sadly, he would die of a drug overdose. Isn’t it ironic? This album really was a game changer for Paul McCartney. Wings became a huge success and he was now the most successful ex-Beatle. John was about to go into a five-year sabbatical. George went through a divorce and struggled with two mediocre albums before finding love again and bouncing back in 1976. And Ringo was kind of going through the motions. Paul had pulled off the nearly impossible. He created a band from scratch that went from showing up at local colleges in the UK to filling up arenas. Great reaction as always, Crystal. I have also been working again on music writing new songs for my “Elephant In The Room” album (tentatively titled). Will keep you posted. 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶

I will be praying everything runs smoothly for your dad and he has a speedy & painless recovery. 💚 I love your interpretation on Call Me Back Again, I am on my way to re-listen to it, now with this fresh perspective! My love for all these songs have made it exceedingly difficult to single out a favorite, but Listen to What The Man Said always feels like a favorite whenever it's on. It is with a heavy heart that I just learned of Jimmy McCulloch's extremely early passing and Medicine Jar is another song I will hear with different ears now. I am rooting for you and I believe "Elephant In The Room" is a very compelling and intriguing title! Very excited!

This and Ram are my two favorite McCartney albums. At the point the Venus and Mars album album is being written and recorded, Sir Paul is trying to make this line up into a real band.
