Do not underestimate the F50 in a close quarter dogfight. They are the mini F16. JAS39 has advance avionics that can kill F50 BVR. But in close combat scenario? Think twice before saying bad things on F50. Lockheed Martin is also one of the major designer of FA50 fighting eagle.

If RTAF's Jas 39 Gripen C has beaten China's J11, but then the former was beaten by Philippine Air Force's much inferior FA50 light fighter jet, then that'll only mean there's no need for Filipino pilots to buy expensive and costly MRFs. It is really pilot experience, skills and tactics. Air combat instructors on F-5 Freedom Fighters and A-4 Skyhawks routinely beat F-14 Tomcats flown by regular fighter pilots in TopGun training. It doesn't mean also that FA-50 is superior to Gripens. I think PAF pilots have more actual combat experience. It all depends on the exercise scenarios and rules of engagement. On Gripen vs. F-16s and other western fighters: ‘Gripen first participated in Red Flag 2006 with the Gripen A,’ s.... ‘It was assigned to the red team. Reduced AWACS, reduced ground support. The Gripens connected their link systems and acted themselves as AWACs, got the battlefield awareness necessary and avoided all ground defence, scored 10 kills the first day including a Typhoon.
