Hi Courtney! Thanks so much for making this video! The information was very helpful. As you’ve posted this video 3 years ago are you still answering comments here? I am considering IPEC for Life Coaching beginning July and would be so great to ask someone who has gone through it. I am also still discerning between the Life Coach and Therapy route. Are you open to discussing?
Thank you. I just began my MBA program after graduating ten years ago. I have forgotten all aspects of being a student (I completed bombed my first week of assignments and quizzes). This was very helpful. God bless.

Thanks for sharing! I too did psych undergrad and was considering the Clinical Psych MA/PhD route but I know that I love the one on one with people more than the research. The more I research, I see MSW may be the way to go.

can you please make a video on what you did straight out of high school I’m very sure this is what I want to do
@CourtneySchroder3 ай бұрын
After high school I went to college and got my BA in psychology. If you're interested in eventually getting a MSW, most people hold a bachelors degree in psychology, social work, or other related fields. I hope that helps!

Can i pursue bachlor in psychology and masters in social work ?? Then work in a school with children
@CourtneySchroder4 ай бұрын
I did a bachelor's in psychology and then a masters in social work, many people go that route! I don't know much about working in schools with children with a MSW, but if you reached out to specific MSW programs, they may be able to answer your questions about those kinds of jobs

Is PhD obligatory for social work job??
@CourtneySchroder4 ай бұрын
No, it's not. Most social work jobs will require a masters in social work, and some will even require a bachelors in social work. Most social workers do not have a PhD

I'm looking into a MSW also. What are career choices besides therapist?
@CourtneySchroder5 ай бұрын
Hi Amy, this page from where I went to school has a list of careers. You can also look on the left for other "tracks" within the field and click on those for more career options as well. I hope it helps: ssw.umich.edu/programs/msw/interpersonal-practice

I feel the same regarding wanting to incorporate spirituality into helping others and providing mental health services! I'm torn between life coaching, getting a MSW or an MA in counseling...its helpful to know you've felt able to do both with an msw 😊
@susanjones89385 ай бұрын
Thank you. You helped me make my decision to pursue SW. I have thought and pondered and looked at ways to help others in the mental emotional spiritual physical realm not as a nurse but as a therapist coach cheerleader mentor. And also how to invoke change on the political law level. I want to help change endangered populations and oppressed populations. I want to fill people's toolboxes with hope and encouragement and help them to see that anything is possible and that it's ok to talk about mental health.

Hi! In the video you mentioned that there may be a way where you can study clinical psychology for free. I wanted to ask how / where that might be? I'm an aspiring psychology student / future therapist and am having a hard time finding options within my budget! I live in califronia but also happy to go abroad if there are cheaper options there
@CourtneySchroder6 ай бұрын
Hi! Can you give me a time stamp from the video and I can further clarify for you? I'm most likely referring to many clinical psychology PhDs being funded. I have a podcast episode on my channel that talks about PhDs more in depth if you're interested as well. To my knowledge the only way to study psychology at an undergraduate level for free would be with scholarships.

This is super helpful. The format of this video is what’s needed for visual learners. I have two classes this term for my graduate degree and was feeling overwhelmed, but it can be done and this is a great way to manage!

I am currently working on my Master of Social Work but would also like to become certified in life coaching. What life coaching program would you recommend for me, that is affordable? (Since I am already paying a lot for my MSW). I have two previous degrees(undergraduate degree in Psychology and a graduate degree in Family Studies).

Great video. I'm kinda at this crossroads currently as I just recently became a Professional Counsellor, but as I've been brainstorming the direction I want to go with my marketing and services, it seems that I want to be more of a Life Coach. Have you ever heard of someone being both??

Hi Courtney! I really enjoyed this video and was curious if we could talk sometime. I recently graduated with a bachelors degree in criminal justice and found that there are limited opportunities. I've always been drawn to social work and but never pursued it, now that i'm feeling a little loss and discouraged from my job searching, I think I want to pursue a master's in social work. I had a few questions about schools, the curriculum, and general questions about a MSW.
