Excellent tutorial. To save fabric, couldn't you use one piece of fabric and just go further in and have it trim off the previous test?

This is really good information, thank you! I've never seen this method of trial tension. Unfortunately the person holding the camera made me motion sick! Still a really informative video that will be useful for anyone struggling with tension on their serger/overlocker.

❤❤❤❤❤ What a genius way to actually see the difference as you change the tension dial. I’m like many others-don’t have a clue how to control tension. Think I’ll dust off my old serger, once I find it in the attic! 🥴Now I just need to invite you to my home and teach me how to thread it.😂

I don't think you're supposed to use the steam button while it's closed. Apparently you're supposed to press it for 2 seconds when it's 3/4 closed then you close it fully. Not sure why though

Simple, Yet Absolutely Genius! At 48yo, I’m still a beginner, even though have owned my Serger for about 4 years. One of my first practice sessions ended with a threading nightmare. I couldn’t figure it out, got overwhelmed and felt so intimidated that I gave up, which isn’t like me. Alas, it’s been collecting dust since. Earlier I watched another video on how to thread my Janome 634D which actually led me to your video on Tension. Tension has always been an issue for me, even on my basic Brother sewing machine. I just realized that, until today, I didn’t fully comprehend what I was even looking for. Now, after watching your video many times, as I wanted to pause and zoom-in at each level to make sure I understood. I’m so excited to say, I finally get-it! Thank you for this wonderfully detailed explanation! I feel like I’ve overcame the anxiety that’s held me back. Thank you for helping me find my self-confidence & enthusiasm to try again. I’m actually smiling as I type because I feel so optimistic. I simply cannot thank you enough for this amazing video! You are one brilliant young lady!

I have one of these. After a couple of years one of the roller bearings which supports the press handle failed catastrophically i.e. parts of the bearing were found low down in the casing. Makes me wonder about the durability of this machine.
@conorpodonoghue7 ай бұрын
As per the manual, you are advised not to steam when the press is closed. This should only be done when the plates are about 7 cm apart.

I put away my sewing in order to raise my precious granddaughter and now she is becoming a really fine adult. Now I get to return to sewing and your logical way of assessing the tension has taken away a lot of stress by a methodical method that also teaches you so much about the machines that we love to create on! Thank you!

Hi, Thank you for the video. I haven't decided on if I want to buy an overlocker yet and I've ben under the impression that they are very complicated to work with. This video has helped me to see that they aren't unpredictable beast with an ill will towards all humans😉😊. Now they seem to actually be somewhat predictable beast that you can apply some logic to and they might do what i ask of them. I still haven't made up my mind if I want one yet but they at least seem a bit less scary now. Yours, Ann
