You should totally do the book called "the hate U give" it's such an amazing book about a black girl living in a white neighborhood and dealing with stereotypes and racism. I would love to you your interpretation of it!

The way you broke down Coates's "Between the World and Me" was both informative and hilarious. I loved how you used pop culture references to explain some of the more complex concepts in the book. Definitely subscribing to your channel! For those who want to delve deeper into Coates's work but don't have the time to read the whole book, our audio summary is the perfect solution! Can you please explain this part "These words would be spoken with a veneer of religious nobility, as though they evidenced some unspoken quality, some undetected courage, when in fact all they evidenced was the gun to our head and the hand in our pocket. This is how we lose our softness. This is how they steal our right to smile" what are the literary techniques are used here

Hello, America an immigrant country. tragic irony that Blacks may not have come here if not for slavery. the Civil War foiught to end it. 450,000 New Yorkers died in war to free slaves. Black Amercans owe White Americans reparations for dying for their freedom.

This is the book I chose for my summer reading but I couldnt bring myself to actually sit down and read it. With everything that's been going on in the world reading a book seemed to be the least important thing going on. This really helped me out.

Why do you think he was writing for the black audience specifically?
@justinlindemann35053 жыл бұрын
It's his experience. His personal experience doesn't apply to "the other," meaning white people.
@jenniferkerr16383 жыл бұрын
@@justinlindemann3505 Interesting perspective. Personally, I thought that he was writing to "all", sharing his experience with everyone. In the first paragraph, he writes, " This meaning is not without interest to YOU, Gentle Reader; for the problem of the 20th ce. is the problem of the color line"--meaning the problem is the color line, and it belongs to the 20th ce. and who reside within it....meaning everyone. Anyway...just my take.
@justinlindemann35053 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferkerr1638 I don't disagree with you. But, as a white male, the most I can do is empathize with his experience. It's not something that I will ever understand completely or experience.
