As a PA with 17 years under my belt, i agree look at the specialists notes. Also, learn to take a really good history and then add your physical exam, labs/imaging etc. Good luck to everyone out in the field 😊

This reminds me of my trip and my friends but just the hilarious stuff, not so much the scary stuff. My friend went to hospital but I went back in time and was a Spanish Conquistador fighting the Aztecs or Incans or Mayans! I was 17 and during the days of dial-up internet. I would definitely not recommend it but it's definitely unforgettable.😂

Well said! I would hope the doctors would ask the patients what they have done before the test. Like distance and interval training! Since I started doing psa test I have never had a doctor ask those questions! Scientists would do this research differently!

concerned as I'm having readings at 160/100 and I'm 20 years old. I'm pretty healthy in most regards, but I do have a very high stress job, very high stress, and usually working at my computer 15 hrs a day, anxiety, not much exercise. But besides this I have a clean lifestyle. not exactly 180/120, but it's usually accompanied by tachycardia with PVCs, very slight-mild disorientation, and very types of chest pain. for instance, that was my reading earlier today. was just sitting at my desk working, typing on a keyboard, that's it. BP started rising (it was already elevated) and the effects hit me, I felt terrible. It felt like if I turned my head just 25' degrees, that my heart would tear in half or explode. it's like if you have a muscle cramp and you know that one place NOT to "hit" otherwise it'll cause excruciating pain - it was like this. Not sure what to do. Already been to ER many other times before I knew what PVCs/palpitations were and I was worried, wasted over like 75k now going to ERs for this stuff.

There has been further research showing that in the elderly patients, even a high normal platelet count (after a rise for the patient) could be an early sign of malignancy.
@jiafei083 ай бұрын
Any new unexplained developments of thrombocytosis or dyslipidemia should prompt for further investigation. Cancer is one of many reasons to cause reactive thrombocytosis. Of course, you’d check for IDA, infection, inflammation/autoimmune causes first. But if none of those apply and the patient shows persistent thrombocytosis, work up absolutely should be done to search for occult malignancy. Too bad many primary care physicians in the US are pretty ignorant about this. To other patients who are experiencing unexplained persistent thrombocytosis but facing a dismissive PCP like me, I recommend you ask for a hematology/oncology referral, or if symptoms suggest, a GI or Pulmonary referral. My experience is that the specialists in the US are much more knowledgeable and alert about silent signs like this.

I have a DVT in my thigh at the moment. It is so painful that I’ve been using crutches for three and a half weeks. I have factor five Leiden and this is my third of fourth clot since 2016. I was actually already on warfarin and still got a clot. The doctors put me on horrible fragin injections that I had to do myself for 2 weeks then changed my blood thinners to Apixabsn. That seem to be giving me a heavy period: my leg is still 8cm bigger than the good one. I’m from England so medications might have different names.

Thank you. I have a remark though I’m not a doctor nor med student : Coughing is the natural way the body expels the virus through mucus so cough suppressants sound like a bad idea if the cough is wet. It might be better to treat wet cough by drinking fluids, mild heating chest, and take medication that liquifies the mucus so it helps spit it out when it’s hard to.

I have been in and out of recovery for years. Caregivers NEED to define DTs. It's a misnomer and is so dangerous. I had to KZfaq what DTs really meant. I experienced it a couple days ago, and just terrifying. I'm going back to detox tomorrow. I'm so sorry for anyone who is struggling. It does get better! I've been there, and I'm getting it back.

My husband and I were on holiday in Antigua, 2 weeks ago and we both caught chest infections. A Dr came out and said I had bronchitis and I was prescribed both antibiotics and steroids. I know both of these may not be necessary but I have never felt so ill so quickly and I had wheezing and rhonchi sounds so I was glad to take the meds in case it got even worse! Thanks for the video 😊

I suffered for years with Meckels Diverticulm without diagnosis. Weakness in legs, heart palpitations, anemia. CT scans x35, you name it I had the test, heart surgery for palpitations, gallbladder surgery for severe lower rt abdominal pain. Finally, after begging a surgeon to remove my appendix, he found it. I'm 65, this started more than 8 years ago. 4 surgeons, 6 colonoscopies, 3 unnecessary surgeries, One laparoscopic with lose of gallbladder. I was desperate when I begged this man's mercy

Dear sir I got tetanus booster vaccine 3 months ago. Today I poked myself with scissors with which I was shaping my flowers in the garden and there was old soil on them. The poke was not big cause there was not blood and hydrogen peroxide didn't make reaction with puncture wound. Should I get immunoglobulin or not because I am on blood thinners (lovenox)? Does booster dose protect me now?

Is it possible that a dvt can cause loss of sensation? Both my calves (not the total calves just part of it) no pain, no swelling, no discolor happens. Its been here for 6 months now. Can anyone also relate? Even if I would love to get checked by a doctor, I don’t have any money😢
