Stupid that commercial boats can rip tons of them from the ocean and regular anglers get the shit end of the stick for regulations on them

And you're able to eat the smelt with the bones still in them?

Absolutely! The bones are tiny and soft.

Where do I get an apron like yours? The name of your channel is so me. When I met my other half she cooked with teflon but i cooked cast Iron, the cast iron eventually ended up in the garage until I took up cooking again and now she put the teflon in the garage. But I'm liking that apron, would like to purchase one.

My wife bought it for me as a present. I think she found it on Etsy or Amazon.

Thanks for the video! I love fried smelt, but I also love smoked fish. I purchased some smelt at WinCo, and decided to combine two of my faves. Also I agree with you about using the grill for as much at once as possible. I'm such a Scot. lol I hate to waste anything, and not using up all the heat from that fire just seems wasteful to me.

While I have some issue with the "Happy" part of the title, I still really appreciate this video. My best friend from boot camp died while in service, and my best friend of my life died last year after not being able to adjust to civilian life shortly after retiring (which I personally feel is still an ultimate sacrifice death). When people thank me for my service on Memorial Day it feels like twisting a knife in my gut. I still have days when I wonder why was I allowed to continue on and they weren't. I think every veteran feels at least a little survivor's guilt. I tell people my service doesn't count on Memorial Day. Its hard enough trying to come up with a real response on all the other days of the year when people thank me for my service. On this day, I can come up with many, many responses. The thing is all of them would lead to me being arrested. So thank you for the video. It will help me get through the day.

I can relate to this on a deep level. I spent a long time after Iraq learning how to deal with the way I felt. Having people constantly reminding me that I served by thanking me didn't help. I even snapped at some of them and lost friends over it. It took a long time to find a path that led to a better life and some kind of peace. Even now, I sometimes find myself dwelling on those whom I lost and the things I saw over seas. It never fully goes away, but over time we learn to handle it better.

Well said. I knew someone who died in Iraq. This is his holiday (for me).
