These VIP cars are considered unusable in Japan because they're primarily for VIP private livery service and not really for driving by average consumers so you can find used Cima or Cedric in pristine condition for less than USD5,000 sitting around somewhere outside in the suburbs and rural areas.

Dude, I’ve been watching you for 10 years, which is crazy and even met you at a C&O in Atlanta years ago. Please, please continue to listen to Larry. I’d love to see more track videos, documentaries, and videos like this one. You’ve always been one of the most genuine dudes on KZfaq, it’s why I’m still subscribed 10 years later after unsubbing from a lot of the scene. You and RoadsUntraveled will always be my top OG’s and it’s honestly such bs that your art gets rate-limited by a bs algorithm made by people who could never understand car culture as humans. Never stop growing man, put out what interests you, because that interests me and I’m sure the rest of your loyal viewers you’ve cultivated over the years. Keep bein real David 🤙🏼

I had never been in one until I just recently bought one, and, just, wow. I had a C7 Z06 and there is absolutely no comparison. The ZR1 is so much smoother in everything it does than my Z06 was. The one I just bought two months ago was a one owner clean Carfax with 3145 miles and is mint. I will keep this car forever. Sometimes I go out into the garage in the middle of the night just to look at it…and giggle like a school girl. By the way, I bought my C7 Z06 new and had Vengeance do a stage 3 build on it. They do awesome work there. I had 888s on the back of the Z06 because they were necessary after the build. They are louder and not as smooth but damn they are sticky and get the job done. Great video, man!

Jimmy Oakes isnt just my favorite automotive youtuber, hes my favorite youtuber in general. The amount of things hes accomplished, even before he had a better budget, is insane. He learned how to do it all himself and then taught the audience. Hes always came across as humble, genuine and helpful. Plus hes had the same friends and girlfriend since day one and brought them all up with him. Cleetus seems like the same type of guy even if their on camera energies are different. But honestly Im subbed to like 70% of these guys and watch every video. Its insane to see what you've all built in the last like 5-10 years. Automotive youtube really is the best genre here. Also thanks for mentioning TommyFYeah. Regardless of how the redditors and some of the viewers feel, I rock with Tommy and it says alot that 95% of the creators he met along the way still rock with him, work with him and some are even business partners. Dude has hella good taste, a good eye for details and created a rad business from nothing. Im sad he deleted all the videos from before the new shop, they were hilarious!

From the Bay Area. What you call take overs were absolutely a thing out here a decade ago in the era you’re talking about (where you say they weren’t a thing in your area at that time). Here, they’re called side shows. People on bikes or ATVs or in cars (often stolen so no one cares if they get cracked up) are pretty common. At the bigger events police don’t really mess with them. When people like highway patrol show up it’s hundreds of folks in the crowd, many with guns. Cops have bottles thrown at them until they leave and there are people shooting guns into the air. So, one or two officers isn’t going to get involved with that (once in a while they shut down smaller side shows with a larger show of force). Hell, during the George Floyd riots a dealership near Oakland was robbed and about 80 cars were stolen (lots of muscle cars). There are parts of Oakland you can go to where the streets are LINED with old abandoned stolen cars that just have homeless people living in them (dozens and dozens in each pocket where they get dumped). Kids (teens or in 20s) steal cars, have fun with them, then dump the car and go get another. Car modification culture is and has been, obviously, a thing out here, too. But, it’s pretty separate from sideshows. Classic cars, low riders (lots of overlap between those), drift cars, and the rest … uh, not a lot of the truck scene here (we tend to have all of our teeth and not date our sisters). There’s also a big influx from the money in the area. Tech workers making crazy money who can afford the exotic toys.

Had a friend who joined the navy 25 years ago and was over in the area you’re talking about. As he explained it … there’s no spending money while you’re away on a boat for months and months. And he basically didn’t pay for where he had to live. So, the amount of disposable income he had when he was back was through the roof (compared to before he joined and he was a warehouse forklift operator doing the mind if menial job a 20 year old does). So, as he explained it, it was a bunch of dudes who had few expenses and decent money coming in. So, everyone spent a ton of their money on cars. Just guessing … 10-15 years later in the time you’re talking about … those things were still a factor in a navy town.
