Thanks man. I did a test run on the trail with those tires and not great there either. Rocks, loose dirt... just not good. Basically a good looking scale trail driving tire only. Next time you see this thing, its definitely going to have different shoes on it. :)

@RockyMtnRCAdventure 4 ай бұрын
@@MidwestRCcrawler Thanks dude. The mounts were a hack I came up with but they work great. Two screws of the right length and then some red rubber hose cut into 4 washers. The rubber can just spin off and the jack can be removed. Might not be perfect or true scale but I'm not overly concerned down at that level of scrutiny.

I love the look of your Sawback. I just picked mine up and after 10 minutes of playing I am already modding... battery relocated and putting some drops of superglue on the tires, they literally would not stay on. I'm going to replicate my real Willys, hopefully I can patina it right.

Hi Bryn... great truck. The leafs need protection against torque twist so google up how to do that. The rest of it will last ages but there are upgrades out there if you must. It really is a capable truck out of the box and pretty near bullet proof. Enjoy

Awesome video! I'm just finishing my first Sawback but wondered what leaf setup you are running in the video? It looks as though yours has way more flex than mine.
@RockyMtnRCAdventure
@RockyMtnRCAdventure 7 жыл бұрын
Actually... I have less than when I got it. I have very heavy wheels with aluminum rims and inside is a full strip of lead in each. That makes those wheels pull down when they get air and causes the flex. I found the single leaf that was in it when I bought it was not enough plus I also have a low turn motor and a 4:1 gear reduction unit in it so the torque is extreme. This causes torque twist in the axles when the wheels get jammed in sometimes among obstacles. Many guys put a single link from the pumpkin to the skid plate to reduce that axle twisting. I haven't done that yet but what I did do is taking some metal strapping that we use at work to wrap large items shipping on the pallets... I cut the metal down the middle and its the perfect width for a leaf. I drilled holes and put some in as second leafs so that they are now giving it much more strength but it takes away some of the flex that it used to have. I'm okay with that as its much more stock and realistic this way. The next step is to put some hangers on front and back so I can get a bit more droop when its crawling. Going back to the leafs topic... a lot of guys end up snapping their leafs due to repeated torque twist. I won't have that problem. Thanks for the question and comment. Enjoy that Willys my friend!
@RockyMtnRCAdventure
@RockyMtnRCAdventure 7 жыл бұрын
Just an update to my comment a moment ago... I think at the time of filming this particular video, I hadn't put the aluminum wheels on yet and the second leafs were not installed yet so there was more flex and twist. See my more recent videos to compare. Cheers

Good sawback! What kind of Esc and motor are you using? It's very quiet.
@RockyMtnRCAdventure
@RockyMtnRCAdventure 7 жыл бұрын
Not sure about ESC... Axial but not sure what kind. Motor is 35 turn but I have a 4:1 GRU from RC4WD attached to it. Gives great control and realistic crawling but a baby can move faster than this thing. lol. It's also "very quiet" because I turned off the sound when I added the music.
