Great craftsmanship. How did you learn all these skills? Maybe I missed it but how did you secure the container to the truck bed?
@uglysjourney2 сағат бұрын
Hi George! 👍 Thanks! KZfaq helped bigtime in learning everything. And the container is fixed with twist-locks. So it still is "loose". ❤️👍

this video should be titled. how to use all the wrong materials.
@uglysjourneyКүн бұрын
I have noticed there seems to be a big difference in building between US and EU. But basically, and with some investigation, there is a logical explanation for everything. So are you willing to share where you think the wrong materials are used? Regards!

Buying new hardwood flooring to put on top of OSB Floor will cost ye north of 5$ a Sq ft..for Wood..not a cheap laminated plastic floor which sucks in terms of Vibe and Authenticity.
@uglysjourney2 күн бұрын
Thanks! I did find a nice solution. Did you also see the "part 2" video? If not, stay tuned for the next one, there I will show I made a table that lowers into the floor. ❤️👍
@andreewert19252 күн бұрын
I would have turned it sideways and sprayed the Floor with Urethane and not lose more Height with the Floor Raising..also, the Floor below is Hardwood and perfectly good, rebuff it, revarnish it..adding on the Ceiling is probably ok because you need a place to run Wires + Insulation and Lights..just saying..the Floors also tell a History, add a Vibe..
@uglysjourney2 күн бұрын
Hi Andre, thanks for your point of view! 👍 You could indeed spray the underside and insulate between the steel "rafters". And for wires I could use the ceiling indeed, but for plumbing I really did want to go below. Did you manage to see the end product? And what I did with the OSB?
@andreewert1925Күн бұрын
@@uglysjourney Its done now but if you do other projects, maybe think differently..A Community in Arizona did a 8 story high Rental Complex and they left the floors untouched, just buffed em , varnished them..they look great..steel plate inserts and all

What an ugly Rv. You could pretty it up by hanging attractive wood siding over it. ACTUALLY, thin wood flooring would be attractive-light weight-cheap. !

Is not the weight a detractor or am I missing something. It would be nothing new if I did. HEHEHE It is so nice you get a straight rectangle to work with. I am doing my RV and EVERYTHING is a different size.

Hi thanks for sharing your thoughts! And you are right, it is 12.000 kg, but on the other side it is the same weight as a Earthroamer SX. So yeah it takes some fuel, but I am quite happy overall.

Would a "murphy" bed work on a build like this?
@uglysjourney10 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think it could work. I choose storage below the bed, so you would not have that with a Murphy bed. Or you could create another bed on the location where I put the sofa's. 👍❤️

I am thinking that little house now weighs about Eight tons ❤
@uglysjourney20 күн бұрын
Hehe, tiny overweight home 😉👍. 12 tons total, container is about 5. 😄
@chaosncheckt935617 күн бұрын
Ok, so have to ask what is the weight capacity of the vehicle? While one might say it’s off road ready, I think 12 tons might be pushing it.
@uglysjourney17 күн бұрын
@chaosncheckt9356 thanks for asking! The max weight is 12 tons, so it is loaded to the max. We take the truck to bumpy gravel roads and sandy beaches. Not extreme, but yeah, who wants to take their home on a 20% muddy incline with a chance of tipping over? Not many I presume? 😉👍 Can you say why you ask about off road readiness?
@chaosncheckt935617 күн бұрын
@@uglysjourney The design, truck body, thorough insulation, and robust solar for power, would have made it an awesome all season off road rig. In the States we refer to off road camping as boon docking, so our rigs are self contained. If it weren’t for the weight, you could probably get it to some pretty remote areas. My worry at 12 tons would be getting on rough roads and breaking something. Still, a sweet rig especially if you can swap it to other trucks or even onto land. I would imagine your fuel miles are pretty terrifying.
@uglysjourney17 күн бұрын
Thanks for explaining to me! And you are right! We live in it full-time and we stay off-grid always. We can even make our own drinking water from almost any source. Only diesel is needed....and in that aspect you are right as well, but it is does a bit better than the Earthroamer for example. We do 12 MPG (5 liter per km).🫣 Some day we hope to take a step up and have a stronger vehicle....🤞🤞 Do you own a expedition truck?
